Potential Class Action lawsuit against Rogers
Rogers has apparently unilaterally and arbitrarily changed its wireless policy on July 15th, 2008 without giving due notice as set out in its "Terms of Service" to the effect that text messages from Canada to the US which were heretofore included at no additional cost in it's package plans will henceforth be billed at $0.25 per text message. This is likely to mean that Rogers will also be subject to a class action suit by it's subscribers in a manner similar to that currently being contemplated by subscribers of Bell Mobility and Telus

Inappropriate? After several frustrating attempts to resolve this matter with a series Rogers Customer Service Representatives I was finally able to speak to a very nice, polite, and intelligent lady who took the time to analyze the history of my account and my previous billing and as a result of this, this matter has been resolved to my satisfaction. I can report that I had previously subscribed to an supplemental international text messaging plan that I had recently canceled and was erroneously under the impression that text messages from Canada to the US were included in my base text messaging plan since I had always sent text messages exclusively to the US before and had never before received an additional surcharge. Kudos to the Rogers Customer Service Agent who took the time to analyze my account properly and cow pies to the other airheads at Rogers Customer Service currently on their payroll.
I’m happy

Inappropriate? Please give me the name of the representitive that you spoke to who resolved your problem regarding text messaging to the United States (if she hasn't been fired already, due to her exceptional customer service skills). I signed up for my plan, being told that my text messages to the U.S. were INCLUDED IN MY UNLIMITED TEXT MESSAGING PLAN. I have spoken to customer service as well as customer relations (and retentions) and none of the associates have been able to assist me with my problem. This is an issue that I will take up with the government. If this problem cannot be resolved I will not hesitate to join the class action lawsuit against this company, who has misled me and left me with a plan that is no longer of use to me at all.
I’m pissed off.

I did not take note of the name of the customer service representative that was able to analyze my account in a comprehensive and intelligent way to my satisfaction. Before contacting Rogers I had scoured their website in an effort to determine the definition of an international text message and no definition was provided on their web site. Since Rogers is providing a telephone service I had assumed that text message rates from Canada to the US should be similar to the current long distance telephone structure where there is no difference in a long distance call across Canada or to the continental US. I noticed after my intervention that Rogers subsequently modified their web site to indicate that text messages to the US from Canada were considered an international text message by them and required a separate plan. I have been a customer of Rogers for nearly one year with a minimal text message plan for international messages and had never sent a text message to any truly international destination so I removed it mistakenly thinking that US text messages were included in my basic plan. The Rogers web site now makes it clear that US text messages are now considered international text messages by them (which in my opinion is ridiculous). The communications skills and knowledge level of the Rogers customer service representatives appears to be low, I was able to only get an understanding of my situation when I was finally able to speak to a nice lady who could actually speak English without a heavy accent of various derivations who calmly was willing to review all my previous bills with me. In the instead at least I understood my account. That does not mean that I agree with the Rogers policy that text messages from Canada to the US are considered to be international text messages. -

Inappropriate? We have a massive problem with Rogers. We switched from family plan to this alleged "better" plan and ended up paying way more. On top of that, they also changed the weeknights from 6 PM to 9PM and renewed our contract to 2011 without our consent. IF ANYONE IS FILING A CLASS ACTION AGAINST ROGERS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Inappropriate? On my previous text messaging package I was not charged once for any of my US or International text messages. 2 months ago I was told there was an identical package that included call display that was the same price. Now I get charged for both US and International text messages.
I just spoke to a representative about the same issue and she told me Rogers has never included US text messages in a package - it must have been a billing error with only my account. If I can prove them wrong, it should be breach of contract as there was no written notification on their part and they should no longer be able to charge $200 per phone if I switch providers. The bill says rates going from 15 cents to 25 cents but I haven't seen anything yet about removing them from the package.

Inappropriate? This is funny! You guys are all complaining over such silly little things. Rogers committed fraud on my account for over $3000 worth of cell phone purchases (a Rogers rep allowed an unauthorized person to order a bunch of i-Phones on my account). They then illegally transferred my wireless account to another person and I could no longer access my own account when I called in. I spend $400/mth on wireless for business (three phones) and have been for over a decade, and this is the service I get. The account has always been under my name (Eric P******) and only me! Noone else ever had any access to my account. Yet, a rep allows some woman to order $3k worth of phones, and have them dropshipped to an adress in Toronto!! (I'm in Ottawa). They then transfer my wireless account, which I've had for over a decade, to another person! I couldn't access my own account, and the other person had full access to my personal information, and could place orders or modify my services. The worst thing is, this occurred after I placed a PIN number on my account!!! I did my research and they violated three subsections of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
How's that for a complaint? So take it easy guys, $50 worth of text messages is nothing to complain about when you consider how much worse Rogers could have screwed you for. I've lost dozens of nights worth of sleep, and suffered illness and emotional damage due to all the stress from dealing with Rogers.
I just called them, and they did it again! Someone at Rogers transferred my account to another person AGAIN!!!! and now I can't access my own account ... AGAIN!!!! I can't do this anymore! Someone at Rogers is frauding my account, and now trying to cover their tracks my transferring my account to other people without my knowledge (let alone consent!) -
Inappropriate? On top of all that (see previous posting), they still haven't credited me for the $3k worth of stolen goods, even though the fraud dept told me they would fully reimburse me months ago, and they have the nerve to charge me $70 month for late payment fees for the $3k !!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear to you all, I am not making this up!! If only I could afford a lawyer :(

Inappropriate?@Eric Parent. I am sorry to hear about your problem. I have never liked Rogers and the only reason I am with them right now is because of my iPhone. I have recently canceled all my other services with Rogers. (Cable and Internet). They have silently been increasing prices and taking away recently. (Ex: 30 day return policy is now 15 days, Increased text messaging rates to ouside of Canada, changed after hours calling hours..) We all need to take a stand and stop giving in to Rogers services.
If you currently use Rogers Internet, please cancel and use ACANAC. (www.acanac.ca) They have a great service for only 18$ a Month, you get unlimited internet with high speed of 5MBs! You must sign a one year contract and pay all charges for the one year at the beggining but TRUST ME, you are saving lots of money.
I hate Rogers to death.
