Airfoil is receiving but I cannot hear any sound on Ubuntu 9.04
Hi! I just installed Airfoil Speakers 2.7 on my Ubuntu 9.04. The connection is ok with my mac, I can see the bars moving, but I cannot hear anything!!! I have all my sounds working via OSS, so I do not understand...
Anyone could help, please? Airfoil is great and works well on mac and PC, it would be perfect working also with Ubuntu...

Inappropriate?I had the exact same problem in Ubuntu 8.10. After running 'airfoilspeakers' in no-gui debug mode and looking at the log output, I realized it uses a bunch of UDP ports on the Ubuntu machine to open up connections to the machine that's sending it audio. I opened up all the UDP ports in my iptables firewall and presto, it started working!
Now I just need to figure out how to keep the UDP ports open to the local network and closed to external requests and I'm in business.
So, in short, try opening up all the UDP ports in your firewall really quick and seeing if that fixes the problem. Then go through the debug output of airfoilspeakers --debug 2 and figure out which ports are being used. Close all other ports but those.
