TiVo Transfer won't transfer files: Stuck on 'waiting'

Several users are all reporting the same problem: when trying to transfer files from their TiVo to their Mac, TiVo transfer reports "Waiting" forever and never transfers the files.

  I've got a fix! Restart your Tivo from the console itself: Go to Tivo Central, messages/settings, restart system, Restart Tivo. Then press the Thumbs Down three times and then enter. After it cycles, try again. It worked for me!

  Karen, that will work for 20 minutes or so, then it starts all over again.
  My solution is to go in via http and just download the files one by one. Makes the TiVo software useless.

  I ended up solving the problem by putting my Tivo onto WiFi (it was previously on a wired ethernet connection).
  
  When I was having the troubles my Mac was on WiFi and my Tivo was wired. Now that their both on WiFi it seems to be working.
  
  It should've worked before as the wired connection and wifi connection both came from the same wifi router.
