I'd like to see the possibility of voting up/down ideas. From a developer/product manager perspective, it would be very useful to see what the most popular feature requests are in order to prioritize the roadmap!
This would require:
1) the addition of up/down voting on an Idea
2) reporting mechanism for those in a developer's (or product manager's) role to see what the most popular features are.
My list of features I would like implemented in Get Satisfaction;
Stats- Can we have some stats over here? I would like to see, at least, the basics. Who is visiting out company? When is the busiest time? See this thread for more info. http://getsatisfaction.com/satisfacti...
Notices - As an admin I would love to say to people viewing the main page, hey! look at this. I know you have the latest topic stuff, but I mean an section where we can choose what to put there. This gives us more power to streamline announcements to everyone. People view out page and our like hey I hate the awesome bar too, maybe I should reply to that discussion. This would help limit the effects of “drowning” threads. Mozilla at GSFN gets a lot of crash reports. Maybe a problem that says hey, Firefox crashed here is how to solve it. It would basically be the choice of an admin.
About - I know you have an about section, but why is it at the bottom of the page? I am always looking at new companies and it is a pain to scroll to the bottom of the page. At least go back to what you had, with a link to the bottom of the page.
Editing - I understand that you don’t want companies to edit post to change what they say. But can you think of a better way to manage this? At least let us be able to have an edit section. So it is post and then it says EDIT: and we enter all our crap there. Keep both the edit and the original.
Digg - Add a voting system. That way we can see which problem are best solved and which problem is the most occurring.
1. You should be able to hide / collapse the "Active companies in Get Satisfaction right now" on the home page. It just bugs me. ;-) Maybe one could use the space (only when collapsed!) for something else. For example for suggested companies / products based on...whatever.
Another option would be to add a checkbox "show only products, you haven't added yet", which would provide real value to me, because I might want to check out new companies / products, but if 50% of the shown companies / products I already added, this is difficult.
2. Search / Dashboard related:
You should add buttons or something like that with the following options:
2.1. "Show unanswered threads you started" (no answers from anyone but maybe you)
2.2. "Show threads with no company answers" (only additions / questions / comments from other users or yourself)
2.3. "Show unsolved issues" (I'm not sure if I proposed this one before...)
2.4. "Show solved issues" (optional, maybe for the control freaks or if you know, you flagged something "solved" recently, which you want to review again. :))
3. Old issue: I still miss the possibility to add more details to your short profile.
3.1 Location could be more differentiated. Maybe linked to Plazes or GoogleMaps.
3.2. I can't even add my job title! (Maybe I can when adding a company? Didn't try it, but it should be possible even without adding it directly to Get Satisfaction!)
4. What comes to my mind concerning companies: If you REALLY want to maybe have every kind of company here, did you think about both the topic of complex problems (mechanical / technical issues maybe someone wants to discuss) and privacy (although I doubt some "oldfashioned" company will register here and talk about engineering here is highly unlikely anyway...), "the longterm vision", so to speak? Just want to add that, although I think you might have already thought that through.
5. Get Satisfaction should also keep track of the companies and products you added and/or edited, if possible. At least there should be sth. like "You added x companies and y products:" > company a | company b | product q | product r ...etc. (showing the boxes, as everytime) ...of course also inside your timeline on your Dashboard / Newsfeed.
Kind regards,
Phil
PS: I love your new, subtle interface improvements!! =)
I talked about the "faving" of certain topics, answers and comments in another idea, but why not widening this to companies and products?
As there's only the possibility to add or not add a company/product, there's always a slight decision pressure, as I personally don't want to drown in 100s of added products but on the other side don't want to have to search a company or remember concerning which product I'd wanted to make a suggestion. Of course, we all have a brain and Post-It's :D, but maybe my "brain-dead" description goes a little bit in the direction of what could be a problem about it.
So if you could make it possible to "mark company/product as interesting" / "flag for later reference/usage", this would be great! :) These "flagged" items should be on an extra site again of course, where you should be able to: Group the companies / products after certain criterias, which of most I think you can work out yourself. (Of course you could give recommendations here too!) This grouping feature should be available also for the normally added companies / products, because as a user that is e.g. a real hardcore web2.0 geek (I do even have sure enough 100 accounts somewhere at these web2.0 services ;-)), you should be still able to get an overview about all your added companies / products!
You could again work with retractable buttons, checkboxes and of course with re-arrangeable boxes (which represent the groups) as e.g. in "iGoogle" and "MySpace".
as I'm posting and doing a lot here, I see that the "Recent activity" feed / stream does confuse and overstrain me to a certain amount, so I'd like to propose some solutions:
1.) Make a filtering option, ideally on the left side with little checkboxes! :)
1.1. My activity (all activity except posts & comments) - hideable
1.2. My posts (questions / ideas / problems / discussions / answers) - hideable *
1.3. My comments - hideable
* maybe you could split that up into: "started threads" and "answers" too...
2.) Additionally make it possible to a) temporarily or b) permanently hide old(er) items
a) through a clickable triangle, which minimizes the post to only let the title be left visible.
b) through a little "x" or checkbox with a checkmark.
3.) Bonus idea: Make it possible to click on (in my case currently)
"You have started 18 topics.", so I get to my started threads with a click on the underlined part. (This addresses the little grey-bordered box on the left side of "Recent activity".)
when I do search a product or topic or company, maybe I was wrong, when I used the "topic" standard option, as it doesn't seem to find company / product names.
So in this case, I have to switch in the left drop-down menu to product or company.
1. I don't understand why there isn't a classical "search all / the whole site" option, maybe even as standard option? This would save me a lot of time, because I have to change the standard setting almost every time, as as said, it doesn't find my product / company! Costs too much time!
2. Why does it cost too much time? Because the AJAX system seems to delete the search term every time. Why isn't it possible to keep the search time while switching to another option (topic/company/products/whole site) as a standard behaviour? I think, if this is technically possible, the "keep search term" should be a standard setting, which should be only changeable via your account settings.
3. I'm wondering, why I can only search through companies & products on the home page, but not through topics?? And how get to the search field (for topics) from there? Usability!!!
(E.g. maybe I want to to search about if BBCode is possible at GetSatisfaction...)
You have to think about, in this case YOUR company / product is in a special position, of course you're not "better" than the others, but on getsatisfaction.com, GetSatisfaction is also a little bit more important and that's fine. :)
4. Can one use BBCode here? (for "bold"/"italic"/"underline" etc. formatting) Or maybe XHTML? If it works please add a note here under the "1) This is a...." part.
1. I don't know why the title is UNDER the topic creation form, I haven't seen this ever before, I intuitively want to write my title question at first! Am I alone?
2. Why is the standard answer form at a question/idea/problem/discussion one that answers the last comment instead of the main question? That's stupid! I always might answer the question itself.
If I'd want to answer the persons comment, I can do it via the link.
3. I'd like to get much faster access to "my" products added, as the reason I added them is, I can immediatly get on their site(s), when I start getsatisfaction.com! I don't want to have to bookmark my sub-URL!
4. Companies/products should be find "Dash Command"-like, e.g. I searched your company "Get Satisfaction" with "getsatisfaction" and there was no search result!!
5. Why can't I delete a product/service, when I'm not the administrator of the group? I can't even possibly delete the products/services created by myself in such a group! This is not collaborative!
6. An product-URL I reposted got posted as "http://getsatisfaction.com/company name/...". So the "shortening" thing isn't that good. Although I don't know a solution for it.
So far for now what got my attention in around 10 minutes of using Get Satisfaction. ;)
Thanks anyway, great idea and relatively ;) usable! :)
You can now gauge the mood of the room (topic) in a glance with our nifty "Satisfactometer" graph on the side of the page:
If you see a tall bar under the frowny face you know you've got some damage control to do. What an exciting opportunity to turn it into a win by blowing your customers away with an honest, authentic response!
UPDATE: THIS FUNCTIONALITY HAS CHANGED. PLEASE SEE THIS TOPIC INSTEAD.
Clicking "Official Response" will designate your answer as the official word from your company or organization by attaching a nifty Official Response banner to your reply. It also keeps it sticky at the top of the page! Just be sure you don't use it on every reply or it may lose it's impact.
If an old topic has a new response, you can uncheck the old official response and mark the new one as "Official Response". You can also begin your response with the word "Update" or the like to indicate that it's new information.
This would allow the Company to choose from the helpful users to make a list of the ones that help out the most and put it under "All Employees" or "Official Reps".
I think it would be wonderful to have a better, more multimedia-oriented introduction to using Get Satisfaction for people who aren't necessarily tech savvy. I'd like my organization (ONE/Northwest, http://www.onenw.org/) to transition to GS so that our community can answer each other's questions, instead of having every single one run though a support ticket, but they generally aren't Millenials. If, when logging in for the first time, a 2 minute video on how to use GS showed up, I think that would be a good way to make sure it's visible and usable.
The intro video for Skitch (http://skitch.com/) is a good example for this.
Hi. I would like to see support for code and complex urls in topics and replies.
Often we are dealing with a fairly technical topic with a user and it would be a great deal easier to place code samples in the reply. Also, complex urls like this:
http://www.google.com/ig/directory?sy...
dont display properly...
We, and some of our users, would like to be able to skim through more topics on the screen at once. Ideally, I'd like to be able to see 50 or 100 topics on a page, each topic on one line, with the topic title, author, and the author of the most recent reply listed.
The author of the most recent reply is important, because it's a good heuristic for whether or not a problem has been solved.
I've a question. I google for it. I find a forum where it's asked. But there is no solution.
Why can't I "overhear" that forums question?
In my case this happened to me with the AVG question I posted.
I see that overhearing a problem on twitter has the advantage that you can inform the person that asked the question on twitter about getsatisfaciton activity.
.. But some question are asked somewhere else.
Isn't there maybe a blog-like talkback link in some php-forum solutions?
And I was surprised not to find a mark up language for links (I didn't search for it) or a field to post the link, so it could be used in some intelligent way. ...Hm, I don't know.
You can now set the status on different topic types so your customers can see at a glance that you're listening and responding. Here's some Skitchin' to illustrate:
For Questions
Do this:
You get this:
For Ideas
Do this:
You get this:
For Problems
Do this:
You get this:
For Discussions
No status to set for Discussions because, well, they're just discussions.
If you have a way for people reading a "report" to say "I have this problem too" or "I agree" then this could actually help customers improve their products and services in a quantitative way much as reports that come into call centers or bug systems would then become prioritized as issues. Satisfaction will rock with the world! (I have a feeling you are planning this) :)
I don't like signing up everywhere. GetSatisfaction has done a very good job of reducing the pain (the sign-up at the end, the bare minimum fields, the easy re:captcha). Bravo!
It would be even awesomer, though, if I didn't have to give a password to GetSatisfaction at all... instead, maybe an option to "Sign in using Facebook" or OpenID or Google Account Services or whatever.
We've made it even easier for you to share topics with friends, colleagues, smart people you know who might be able to answer a seemingly impossible question...with our handy Share widget over on the side of the page.
You can either email the topic to a friend and add a short note or post it to a variety of social networks and social bookmarking sites.
On the left-bottom side of my profile, where "You have started x topics. y people are following them. You have made z replies." is, I'd like to be able to click on "x", "y" and "z" and have the lists with topics/ people/ replies appear.
