After spending time developing a rich text WYSIWYG editor we came to the conclusion that DesignMode was not what we needed.
We already support a broad range of HTML tags. What we really needed was the ability to attach images. So we pulled out that functionality and integrated it into the current "plain text" editor. You'll notice that when you insert or upload an image it injects an html escaped image tag rather than displaying the image.
This approach has its ups and downs, but I'm pretty confident that it's the right one for us. I'd love to get everyone's opinion on this (if you have one)
I really like how you can attach links or images in Facebook and Pownce and think that that would be *so* useful for Satisfaction. Any chance you could think about appending that kind of UI?
The semi-transparent PNG images included in the Help Center images directory look like ass in IE6, with their transparent areas rendered as gray. Can you please just make these GIFs like the rest of the web or include the IE PNG fix?
Just as a quick caveat for other folks, if you install the Help Center on Debian etch into your webroot and leave the default Apache config as-is, your images will not show up. That's because the httpd.conf file included by default involves mod_alias and aliases the /images/ subdirectory. Make sure you remove this section from your httpd.conf! (Suggestion for GS: call the "images" subdirectory something else or note this issue in the INSTALL file!)
Hey guys, there are some issues I found in IE6 (yeah... I'm using IE6). For one, when you are not logged in and you post a problem/idea/question/etc and it has the login box appear, it scrolls down the page too much and makes a huge white space between the original bottom of the page, and where the actual box appears. Not sure if this makes much sense, but I could get you a screenshot if you'd like. Also, for the "moods", the images do not work well with IE6. When you click on one of them, it changes the image. For example, if I clicked on the smiley face, it would change it to an unhappy face. Also, there seems to be a problem when you're typing in a product and the site suggests products by the company related to what you type. It seems that the dropdown menu hides itself behind text below the search field. And lastly (this is the last one I noticed for now) when you are posting a problem, the icon the is supposed to be in the red box is slightly ajar and is floating outside of it.
