Couldn't seem to use TIFF pics for avatar, or maybe I'm just being really silly.... worked with jpeg though.

Inappropriate?Yeah, it's limited to gif, jpg, png if i recall correctly. The file size limit is 1 MB.
We'll be revisiting that code as we move the avatar data up onto Amazon S3, and I'll make sure we write tests for as many different formats as possible.
On a light-hearted funny note, one of our early users tried to upload a word document that had their avatar in it. How's that for thinking outside the box!
