Cannot change password
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

It looks like some bug in our code created a duplicate user account for you, and having two identical accounts was causing problems with the database.
The canonical name is your name as it appears in the url for your profile, in this case, m_brusco. Obviously, the DB shouldn't allow two people to have the same canonical name.
But that is beside the point. You should be able to reset your password, and otherwise update your account. I've delete the duplicate account, and I'll look into what caused this problem in the first place. -
Inappropriate?After verifying my email, i tried to change my password, but then it failed. Then i remember, i never asked for any password at sign up page, only user name and email. So i never have password to be exact. How can i add one? Or if it's there, where can i get it?

Inappropriate?The e-mail verification message should have a generated password in it. You click on the "Confirm" link in the e-mail and that lets us know your e-mail address is valid. This will also take you to your dashboard, and from there you can change that password.

If you've forgotten your original password, log out and go to the sign-in page. On that page is a box that will let you enter your email if you have forgotten your password. You can then follow the link in the email we send you to reset your password without knowing your current password. -

you should be able to set your password successfully now. The root of your problem hasn't been solved yet, but I've cured the symptom. You shouldnt be affected by this in the future.

Inappropriate?Nope, it's always the same issue. I know the cause, I just can't get the time scheduled to fix the bug that only affects 1 out of 1000 sign ups.

Inappropriate?Hi, I got the same problem. Created an account while replying to a post. I then got 2 emails with account verification. It is verified but I can't change any account settings and therefore not even my password (tried requesting new pw too). I always get the "Canonical name has already been taken" message, which by the way doesn't help a lot ;)
Hope this can be fixed soon.
