Combining erroneously created products
Over at the PBwiki product pages, there's a "PBwiki 2.0" product and a "PBwiki v2" product and they are about the same product. It's obvious that combining these two products into one would make it better in terms of centralizing all the help you could get on one product.
Is there an easy way for product owners to do this?

Inappropriate?Yes, this is something we can do, and which is something I regularly do when duplicate products are entered into the system. I will correct this now, but we don't yet have a way for admins to curate this particular detail. We're working on making this easier for companies, and I hope we'll have a system in place soon so admins can have more control over this kind of detail. Stay tuned, as it's definitely a priority for us as we build out the product details for companies.

Inappropriate? We have the same problem, as we already had a product set for default (http://getsatisfaction.com/flickchart...) - but a user created an undesired separate product anyway (http://getsatisfaction.com/flickchart...) - I was hesitant to delete the separate product if it meant deleting its associated topics
I got around this though by adding the correct product to the topic, and then deleting the unwanted product under my Account. But this is still a clunky way to achieve the goal.

Inappropriate?Nope. The topics will remain if you remove a product. Understandable fear, but feel free to weed out anything extraneous. We're probably going to tighten up the product-creation process, since so many products that aren't really products are entered by users. We want to clear up this confusion so you can clean up your company's area.

Inappropriate?perhaps disallowing topic creators from associating their topics with products that don't already exist could alleviate the issue entirely?

Inappropriate?Hi Nathan,
I could see this working for companies that have active reps here but for those companies that either don't have reps at all or don't very active ones that are willing to put in the time to be sure all products are listed this would be tough. We don't have enough resources on our end to make sure that every company on GS has every product they make or service they offer listed. Which is why we have to leave it to the community. I wonder if it would work, though, to switch off the ability for general users to add products to a company when official reps have stated that they are willing to be responsible for doing so. That would certainly keep things tidier for the companies that care -- wonder if there'd be social implications, though. Hmmm....
I’m contemplating...

We already decided to do this, but it hasn't yet been deployed. -
Inappropriate?Folks, I wanted to update you about our changes to the product-creation process. We've turned off the ability to quickly (and erroneously) create new products in the new-topic-creation process so that we'll end up with less bogus products. We think this will go a long way toward making things cleaner for company areas.
Thanks for weighing in on this for us. Very helpful!
I’m getting cleaned up

Very nice! I think it will help tremendously to cut down on the excess inaccurate products. Great work.
