Creating a new company fails with "Domain is Invalid" error
I've also noticed some minor layout issues when using the site with Safari 3 beta (such as the cancel links on the additional links section overwriting the url input box.)
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.
The company is aware of this problem.

Inappropriate?Easy enough to fix on the validation issue. Im running through the tests now to make sure it doesn't break any of our routing rules.
Ill look at the link issues, it should be simple to fix also.
I'm sure Ted will get on the layout stuff when he's up and around :-)
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?James, to update you on these bugs:
I've fixed the domain validations. Right now, letter, numbers, dashes and underscores are valid.
I also fixed the link label issue you were seeing.
Those fixes will go out with the next deploy, probably later today.

Inappropriate?I'm having this problem too. The domain is "sonic.net", no special characters or anything. ??

Inappropriate?I've found the solution - eliminate the dot. I guess it's not the dot-com era anymore, and Get Satisfaction requires you to remove the dot from the company name for the URL.
The "Domain is invalid" error is a bit confusing and misleading.
Note also that it's the suggested URL - the company has a dot, and the system suggests carrying that over to the URL. Doh.
I’m nonplussed

Inappropriate?I've come across this error again, the company name has a ':' (colon) in it. It could be removed but shouldn't the website really be more accepting of varied company names.
I’m annoyed.

Inappropriate?Digitalpardoe,
I'm sorry you were annoyed by the design of our system. We allow colons in the display name of companies in our system, but we decided to be more restrictive on the url for the company.
Looking at things, we should be able to allow colons in our url, we simply need to relax our validations. I'll talk it over with the team, and put some tests in place to make sure we don't break the site if you use a colon. This won't be a quick fix, because I'm not confident that all of our code will work with a name like that, so I need to do an audit to make sure it works. I would say expect this to be allowed in a week or two.
Thanks so much for the feedback,
Scott

Inappropriate?Ahh, I got the impression from the page that it didn't allow colons in the display name for the company, I didn't realise that that field related primarily to the URL. Thanks for the response.
I’m happier.
