Dealing with out-of-date threads
Hi, I'd like to make a feature request. Would it be possible to mark old threads as 'out of date'?

Inappropriate?Hmmm. Well, some systems "lock" or close topics, but we always envisioned a conversation that, well, maybe just goes on forever. So, in our system, conversations might grow old and then start back up again at some point.
One of the difficulties that FAQ-like responses creates is a need to be occasionally updated. But, when things change, companies do have a need to update that kind of information. So, perhaps replacing "from the company" topics might work in that kind of situation.
But, just so I don't make any assumptions, what kind of scenarios do you envision that would benefit from marking old topics as out of date?
I’m happy

Inappropriate?we are working this summer on a tool companies can use to indicate that a particular topic is out of date, and redirect users to a newer, better, shinier topic. will report back when that is ready to go.

Inappropriate?I like Ruth's idea and it sounds like the feature Lane refers to might work well to address this need.
At SynthaSite, when we do updates to our software we need to be able to update the answers to our FAQ's. We need a way to indicate that the old answer no longer applies. Even if we put the current answer at the top of the thread, a customer could still find the out of date answer, try it and be frustrated when it doesn't work as expected. I recently had a thread where someone had posted a link that was no longer working. Another customer tried the link, discovered that it was broken, and came back saying that they were really frustrated. It would be helpful to have a way to indicate that this post, while helpful at the time, is no longer applicable, so that customers don't waste time trying solutions that are out of date.
I’m looking forward to Lane's new feature
