Feature Request: Site User's Tally of submitted products, companies?
okay, this just may be about creating user profile buzz and I can always go on making contributions in life without a name but it would be a interest of mine and others to see who submits which sites if user chooses to go public. This would not create their claim to the url established or any company or product data. Just general fun social network noseyness and kudos to myself for a week's worth of submissions this past weekend.

Inappropriate? You can get that data right now from the API. In your case:
http://api.getsatisfaction.com/people...
I'll let the other team members comment on the merit of your idea. I'm not fond of strictly ego-stroking features, but to each his own. I'd prefer to concentrate on letting *other* people tell you that you rock, and expose that, rather than giving the web more "Hey, look at me!" features. I know some of my team members disagree with that, so please don't think I'm shutting your idea down... just voicing my opinion.
I’m thankful for the contributions

thanks for the api information. I knew getsatisfaction was open source and full disclosure. Nice to peruse the data this manner. You are superb, Scott. -
Inappropriate?I'd say I agree with Scott. When other people recognize you -- that's pretty powerful stuff. While it's important to recognize people who contribute quantity, perhaps quality is ultimately more important.
I suppose another way to look at it is from the employee side. If you're on a team of ten people who help out here on Get Satisfaction, you'd want to be recognized for the value of your contribution. Your co-worker Joey may contribute to every conversation with FAQ-like robotic responses, but Sally may be the customer favorite because she's funnier and more human. Joey's a nice guy and all, but he's no Sally.
Then again, when it comes to company creation. That's valuable work. Adding companies takes time, too. So, I would definitely like to find a way to reward people who do all that work to further the whole community.

Inappropriate?I read two sides from Scott and Eric and agree somewhere in the middle. A frenzy of robotic activity can create lots of content but is it rich. I come from a quality-control career as a hairstylist in the past. When I am online and put my face, or avatar here and everywhere I network, it is with due respect for this media being a collective conversation. It can challenge, it can be fun and we should look for ways of expanding the "square feet". So with quality, I will not leave a submitted site without good coverage of topic, product and company because I like to follow with a well phrased invite to claim. Not for glory, just follow up which I know is your forte.
I recently submitted a company but after submitting the first page of information, really regretted not creating a better url : just a bit more concise and compact. Hopefully, url address established by submitters can be managed by company's claim.
thanks for being a great service and my newest online obsession.

Inappropriate? You bring up a good point Wesley! Eric and Scott also bring up valid points. Users who contribute to the site should be recognized in a way that perpetuates quality contributions.
I think the challenge is in choosing the right form of that reward. I for one want us to add more features that let users give each other kudos, maybe in the form of badges on our profiles. So that's one simple way to get more recognition. We'll also be creating Company Champions, which is a title that companies can give out to customers so that a really helpful customer can gain some of the employee tools and be recognized for contributing. Down the line I also want to add in a way for us users to express what we're into. For example you can see from the products that I follow that I'm into design, you'll also see I'm that I'm into travel and kiteboarding. Kiteboarding in particular because I added all the kiteboarding companies currently in our system. ;)
I want a badge on my profile for these categories, and I want to get updates when related companies and products are added or questions come up that I might be able to answer. I want my reward to be more involvement in the things that I like.
I’m thankful for the ideas

Leslie we are in the groove and I always go 'deep' into websites and am very loyal to those that appeal to my interests. this site is great and am happy we are neighbors in great city of San Francisco, too. BTW, I hope we get to see you and lots of others into 'the small fish, here': my TIKI TOON cafepress.com/tikitoon
