hCard profile import is erratic
I've tested the hCard profile importer (http://getsatisfaction.com/people/new) and had mixed results. Last.fm imports in particular seem to be hit-and-miss (sometimes it finds the profile, sometimes not); my Technorati profile will not import at all ("This profile does not support hCard"). Flickr seems to work reliably.
The reason it came up is I'm trying to verify it against Rosebleed's user profiles (eg. http://rosebleed.net/users/profile.ph...) and having no luck. I suspect part of the problem may be the hCard+XFN friends list, but even on a profile with no friends list it doesn't work. (I seem to recall that it has worked in the past, but can't reproduce it now)

Inappropriate?silvermoon82,
We'll definitely look into it. If you would like to look into it yourself, we are simply using hKit to do the actual microformat parsing: http://allinthehead.com/hkit
One of the improvements we have on our list is to change our codebase to leverage a ruby -based microformats parser so that we have better control over our code and can customize it more easily for our needs

Inappropriate?hKit is indeed returning an empty JSON object on technorati.

I’m confused

Inappropriate?Something is definitely broken with hKit and Technorati; the Operator extension for Firefox sees the hCard on Technorati, but hKit doesn't.
After some testing it appears that the js powering the DoubleClick ads is the culprit, in combination with the w3's XML proxy. It looks like the w3 proxy is confused by the document.write in DoubleClick's js, and it pretty much breaks the rest of the document (specifically, it turns the rest of the document into an XML CDATA section). It should be possible to trap for this and fix it (I'm currently working on a hack for it in hKit).
I’m closer to a solution

Inappropriate?Looks like I've solved the problem with Rosebleed profiles - it appears that the AJAX call to http://getsatisfaction.com/hcards doesn't play well with URLs containing '?'. I've modified the Rosebleed profile page to allow pathinfo (http://rosebleed.net/users/profile.ph...) and now Satisfaction can see the profile.
I’m victorious!

Inappropriate?Hi silvermoon82, well done with implementing hCard user profiles on Rosebleed!
I've added Rosebleed to: http://microformats.org/wiki/hcard-su...
As well as: http://microformats.org/wiki/hcard-ex...
Note however that there is at least one minor problem with the hCards on Rosebleed user profiles: http://microformats.org/wiki/hcard-ex...
"The 'n' property is empty, that is, it has no explicit sub-properties, which is not allowed. Possible fixes to the content: explicitly markup 'given-name' and 'family-name'."

Inappropriate? This problem does seem to lie between DoubleClick's bad use of JavaScript and HTMLTidy's bad handling of that bad use of JavaScript.
I've got a solution in the works directly inside hKit (cause I guess this is going to come up a lot). Seems to be fixed locally, I just have to run it through a shed-load of tests to make sure it's robust.
Hoping to have a new release of hKit ready this week.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?d'oh!
I thought the implied 'n' rule would take effect for 'n' with no sub-properties. I've now changed it to explicitly mark up the given- and family- names if possible, otherwise to leave out the 'n' class entirely.
Thanks!
I’m pleased

Inappropriate?I put together a hackish fix, which does seem to handle Technorati's profiles. It's posted at: http://roosenmaallen.com/2007/09/02/h...
