I can't report fake products or companies. I can't really describe this in more detail.
As a subnote, if a product is real but attributed to the wrong company (like "Time Warner Cable" as a product of "Apple, Inc."), that would be nice to be an option in the report area.

I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate? If you're an admin of the company, you have the ability to make many changes to products, but you can definitely let me know if you have products showing up in your company that need to be altered or deleted. Associations are a little trickier, but in any case, I can have our developers dig down and get it the way you need it to be. Send me an e-mail at eric [at] getsatisfaction [dot] com, and I'll get it right -- or try as hard as I can.

Inappropriate? What if I'm not from Apple, Inc. but happen to know they just don't make the product? That's the problem, as due to the association thing when someone tries to associate an item made by a different manufacturer, it makes you create a new item unwittingly.

Inappropriate? If you're not from the company, I am always happy to help do this kind of curation. I know it's not ideal, but I'm here to help out, and I'll do my best to help get it fixed.

Inappropriate?Maybe it could be done with some "proof" question if the product is real and it stays with an attention mark to it asking the users.
So after let's say five people who proofed it as correct, it is ok for removing that mark.
I’m happy

What about beforehand? Such as if a user adds the "Second Life" product under brightkite without first adding a relationship between Second Life and brightkite, so it creates a new "second life" product under "brightkite" company. I guess since the product name of "second life" under "linden labs" would be the same product, it would go "this is obviously what they meant" and allow me to replace the bad product with the good one? -
The idea is to start to allow community curation of the product data, and what you describe would definitely be part of it.
