I thought adding a company would add it... what happens next after I make the request?

This will be automated in the near future, but as Scott mentioned, we're managing it closely for the time being.

Most likely an hour or so passes and we put the company in the system. You'll then get an email showing explaining how you can login, etc.
We aren't letting companies be created immediately as a means to control how many companies are in the system. That will let us manage the growth of the site a bit, and will allow me to keep what hair I have left!
I would go ahead and create the company you requested in the system, but that isn't what I've been charged with doing, and I don't want to step on Amy's toes. I'm sure she is simply enjoying her weekend on her summer vacation!
