I'd like to attach files or images to topics and replies
The more people who like this idea, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?Oh yes. We really want to do this. Something like the Vox compose app would be our dream -- pulling in from places like YouTube, Amazon, etc. But there are a lot of other things on the list to get to before this.
I really wish there were an open source version of the Vox compose widget (or something similar) that we could just implement! Anybody want to try and convince Vox to loan us some code?
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate?Of course, in the meantime people can paste in embed or img tags.
-
Inappropriate? We would certainly like to include images in our responses in order to help explain some of the technical nuances of our product and the workflow in which it resides. A picture paints a thousand words and all that..
Keep up the great work GS!
I’m happy

Inappropriate? Thanks Nick. We're working hard toward a completely redesigned topic/reply experience. This is great feedback!
Thanks!

Inappropriate? Can you provide a little more information about how we can do this? What are the preferred images widths, etc?
-
Inappropriate? We use an application for the mac called skitch (coming to pc soon.) It's really great for sharing screenshots. Pretty much every photos sharing site gives you tools to share on other sites.
Preferred width is approximately 400px

Inappropriate?Similar to this, having the ability to autodetect images on a page - similar to what ThisNext does when you type in a URL in the search box - will make adding images (like company logos) a snap.
I’m hopefuly satisfaction will do this eventually

Inappropriate?Or the way that Facebook detects images on the end of a URL when posting a link... I do think that would be pretty useful for 1) loading company logos and product pics (i.e. from Amazon) 2) generally linking to images

Inappropriate?Of course, another idea would be to build an export option - something within Skitch or Snagit that allows you to export/post to Satisfaction. That might be too wishful thinking, though.
*goes to check about possible Satisfaction APIs*
I’m pondering
-
Inappropriate?Hmm, it's certainly something I can talk to Skitch about! Maybe if STFN supported the Flickr upload API it'd be easier to code support for?
-
Inappropriate?Using Satisfaction within the context of a software development company, attachments or images is going to be a crucial feature that we'll require to stay with Satisfaction long term. We need users to be able to send screenshots of what has gone wrong, or attach a piece of configuration, etc, to help solve the issue. Needing to do that kind of thing out-of-band via email will be annoying for us and then. We'll be able to scoot along without this, but is it in the works?
-
Inappropriate?jeff, it is. couple weeks out, we'll allow image upload and hosting via amazon s3, along with better rich text editing (bold, underline, italics, etc.) we're also talking to plasq, makers of skitch the image screenshotting tool, about a tighter integration with them, though that's further out.

Inappropriate? In the meantime Jeff, I would really recommend using Skitch to post screenshots and host images.
The combination of a rich capture client along with the simple image hosting service is amazingly natural. obviously that won't work for all of your customers, but It might help to recommend skitch to your users.
