No AJAX for "The mood in here"?
Hi,
after making a response in a thread, I was just wondering, why the "mood in here" didn't get updated immediately (I had to reload the site). As this feature somehow seems to mirror reality ;) I thought it should reflect a change in mood immediately.
So why so much AJAX, but not in this case? ;)

Inappropriate?I have to add:
The same goes for "Follow this question / Stop following this question". (In the sentence within the white footer, where you can click on the yellow button.
It isn't immediately updated, if you click "stop following it" / "follow it again".
At least in my case.
I’m Please look into that!

Inappropriate?I'll have to check with my colleagues, but I think that is the expected functionality.

Inappropriate?Hi Philipp, we don't just use AJAX everywhere. We try to use it where it makes interactions on the site smoother, not just add it "because we can." Granted, we haven't done a perfect job of this everywhere, but we are continually improving the site.
The mood is a place where we decided that adding more AJAX to the page was less desirable than the temporary inaccuracy of the "Mood in here" indicator. There are trade-offs in all design, and our site is no exception.
I don't know which element on which page you're speaking of when you say:
"Follow this question / Stop following this question". (In the sentence within the white footer, where you can click on the yellow button.
I’m amused by your persistence

Inappropriate?Hi Cameron, thanks for your answer. Of course you shouldn't blindly use AJAX everywhere, as you'll see by my last posted complaint. ;-)
I might understand it, if you'll try to explain me why you decided it was less desirable in this case? :) ...sorry for not adding a screenshot, there's a little bit more work involved for me for uploading a file, as skitch doesn't work for me as a MS Win user.
Now here's finally a screenshot (by the way, how do I include the link into it? Will you be maybe add a "design toolbar" for such formatting & embedding stuff?):

The element that is not updated (although now it works again -.- *confused*):
I’m confused

Inappropriate?Hmm, those should be linked. I'm going to go enjoy my holiday a bit, but I'll be sure to note this one down as something to look into.
I believe it may be a bug with IE7, as it works properly for me in Firefox 3. -
Hi Cameron, yes I think it might have happened in IE7. I'm wondering why I didn't note that down!...
