Reply to conversation instead of replying to posts
Another thing that I'm dying for is a way to create a new topic from a reply that I'm currently typing.
Like a "reply options" button with "create topic from reply" and "reply to which posts?" as selectable features. This would provide great conversational continuity throughout the site, while maintaining intuitive ways to access all of the organization and relevance features that keep Satisfaction resourceful.
The more people who like this idea, the more it gets noticed.
The best point from the company

Your second idea is really, really smart, and I've been dying for this, too. It would be nice to be able to spawn a new topic from someone else's reply, too.
Your first idea is more of a break with our current setup. However, we could ultimately do it the other way around--allow users to view all replies sorted by date. This might be confusing given the behavior that blooms around the secondary threads. Interesting idea to be sure.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? In the spirit of that second idea, it would also be great if there was some way to easily link to other another post in the body of a reply. It's do-able now, but very manually.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Good idea--something like a pop-up search that inserted the relevant link would be quite useful!
