Volunteers to stand in till actual employees sign up, so new companies don't look like ghost towns.
If I sell a product that is manufactured by someone else, but they aren't using Get Satisfaction yet, it would be neat to be able to volunteer my reps to answer questions till they do join up.
I could post a comment in there mentioning my company, but that feels way too much like comment spam for my taste. Actually, I could just say "Hey, people are here! Don't be afraid to ask stuff just because there aren't employees!" without mentioning my company. I just wouldn't post "You can go to All Your Green's profile to discuss this product." The angst!
But this sort of thing could help spread the user base. Right now, if someone's looking at Dr. Bronner's soaps, they are likely going to be discouraged that no employees are there to discuss, when we might have helped them. Also, once some discussions are there, actual Bronners reps are more likely to be lured in.

Inappropriate? This is a brilliant suggestion, and fits very well into some design processes we're going through around different ways to enable super-empowered customers/partners. Are you itching to be a Dr. Bronner's Soaps volunteer?
I’m excited about this idea

Inappropriate?Maaaaaaybe... ;)
And Klean Kanteen, and Enviro Products, and just about any manufacturer we carry that hasn't joined up already. The more their brand is supported, the better we do. Huge win/win.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Interesting! I wonder what's making it feel like a ghost town in the first place? Is it just the wording that "No one"... is here? Or is that the company space doesn't actually have any participation?
If it's the first case then a really light weight way to fill out an empty company would be to feature really active participants right next to the message, "No one from Apple has sponsored, endorsed, or joined the conversation yet. Learn how to get involved."
And, if those active users happen to be representatives of related companies we can display that information, shaming the original company into participation. ;)
I’m thankful for great suggestions.

That's still a chicken-and-egg situation, though. I'm less likely to use a channel that is employee-less, since I'd feel like I'm yelling into the void, and other people doing the same is of limited interest to me. But then, one user does not a case-study make.
I’m all for shaming them into joining!

Inappropriate? For me, if I could see that there are active, informed participants around that company or product I'm more inclined to use it. If some of those participants are employees than that's even better. We're already allowing all users to "follow" products and companies they care about--the next step is to use these expressed relationships to foster more interaction around those things. So much to do!
I’m excited
