What about a 4th user level?
The idea being that a lot of products or services have users who are deeply familiar with the product/service and it would be great to recognize them as users who can provide "trusted" help. Think about Twitter as an example: there are lots of people who know the ins and outs of the deep roots of Twitter (and how to use it and develop for it) who don't work for the company and thus don't really fit the rest of the title as they don't have a true insider perspective.
Just a thought.
The more people who like this idea, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?Hi Tommy, yes yes and yes!
We see this same type of uber user floating around and helping out on all the Get Satisfaction sites, so we're going to be releasing a deputy feature in the near future.
"This upcoming feature allows companies to assign special powers to their most active users, rewarding them with status and enabling them with tools to cultivate the community" from our blog post here: http://blog.getsatisfaction.com/2008/...
I’m excited

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate? We've actually had very similar thoughts about this, and we've talked to different companies about a "deputies" feature, much as you describe it. I'd be curious to know what you think about how to recognize them visually. Do you see that role more as a fan, an expert, or something else?
I’m right there with you!
-
Inappropriate?Well... there'd be a real dividing line between a fan and an expert. I'm a fan of a lot of products but would be FAR from able to thoroughly help with them.
I had "Trusted Advisor" or "Community Advisor" in mind... The word "deputy" sounds over-policing to me... and that wouldn't really be their role. I see these users as people who the company recognizes as people who are trustworthy and knowledgeable... but as they don't speak on the company's behalf, can't really "control" a situation.
Maybe "Community Guide" ... or "Product Guide"?
I’m impressed.

Inappropriate?I like your suggestions for titles for this role. I think you're right that "deputy" doesn't quite connote the right image.
I’m looking forward to this feature

Inappropriate?Interesting points on the name. It's a fine line between being an expert in a situation and being in control. The point *is* to give more control to these experts, though in the land of GS, no one is in full control ("GS is in your hands but out your control"). This all came about from requests from companies for a way to let their experts act as a more autonomous voice of authority.
I’m happy for Tommy's thoughts
-
Inappropriate?I totally agree about it being a very fine line.
While I obviously don't have final say in this, I think the key point would be to make sure people understand that these advisors/guides/deputies have been appointed their title by the company in question but don't officially represent the company. So ... they're unauthoritative authorities?
I’m looking forward to seeing how this is implemented.
