Unanswered ideas in Get Satisfaction

Hi Get Satisfaction team,

what I do miss are some visual indications around topic participations:



As you do see, what wasn't there before, is first the "You have this question, too" indicator and secondly the "1 person has this question" info.
I'm not quite sure about the second suggestion, but the point is, in fact TWO people have at least this question, as I have it, and one other person (the creator anyway?) does too. (Those are "real examples". I do follow both topics, that's why I chose them!)

About the first suggestion: In general, it should be visible when I "liked"/followed a topic everywhere this is possible.This helps again to lower the need for using the users dashboard for each and every thing related to topics! (Even still at the time you might have introduced more advanced features to the personal dashboard!)

Hi Get Satisfaction team,

what I do miss, is a marking of certain companies/products, so that I can see, if they are helpful / useful for me or not. The main usage case for this would be software companies.

The fact, that one mainly uses one OS makes it necessary to know, if the company found here, creates software for Microsoft Windows, the MAC OS X or Linux.
This often isn't somewhere in the company description, which is currently at the bottom of the page anyway. But even more, it would be important to see this instantly and from potentially everywhere I can enter a company space!

That means (proposal):

Please add a Windows/Mac/Linux icons to all software company names / threads, to which this applies and that are e.g. visible via the homepage area "Active companies in Get Satisfaction right now", in the "User's dashboard / Products & Companies" area and to the "Related Topics" view (maybe directly after the topic title).

This way, I could save me the time to often click on companies / products that are - in my case - created e.g. only for Mac OS X.

The icons should be non-clickable, but maybe pop-up a explanation text when hovering over them.

Additional options:
One could add the different mobile phone OS's, like Symbian, Windows Mobile, UIQ etc.

Company creation:

You should be able to check a checkbox containing:
1. First line: Desktop OS's (multiple OS's should be utilizeable of course)
2. Second line: Mobile OS's (poss. additionally to desktop OS's!)
3. Third line: ...anything else?...

These checkboxes could be of course only visible / click-able (otherwise greyed out), if one clicks at another checkbox categorizing the company into a "software company" (or something equivalent) beforehand.

I hope this is a useful idea, thanks as everything for listening to my thoughts.

At this year's 'Customer Service is the New Marketing' Summit, Get Satisfaction launched an open source document called The Company-Customer Pact. Our intent was to help companies and customers communicate effectively, honestly, and transparently. The Pact provides a way for companies and customers alike to opt into a set of shared values while sharing responsibility with each other.

The Company-Customer Pact has been posted on a public wiki at http://www.ccpact.com. Support and public comments can be voiced right on the wiki pages. Having your voice included would be terrific!

What does it mean to follow a topic? It means that when there are updates, they will show up in your dashboard and, if you've got the notification set, you will receive an email.

There are a couple ways to follow a topic. You can either do so by chiming in that you feel the same way or just by simply following. Allow me to illustrate:

For Questions
Click the "I have this question, too!" button and not only follow the topic but add to the urgency of the question.


For Ideas
Click the "I like this idea!" button and not only follow the topic but add to the validity of the idea.


For problems
Click the "I have this problem, too!" button and, again, you will be following it AND adding to the sense of urgency about the the problem.


For discussions
Click "Follow this discussion" and you'll do just that.


ALTERNATIVELY....
You can simply follow any type of topic without weighing in on it by clicking the "Follow" tab in the nifty Share & Follow widget on the side of the page. Click the "Follow this..." link and voila!


And don't forget about RSS...

I like how I can get an RSS feed of all the replies to things I've said (or replied to) from the dashboard - how about mixing all new topics from my companies in there (instead of having me subscribe to three RSS feeds).

I figured we all deserve a nice friendly greating.

It would be sweet if our avatar library was so big that we could give people a random set of icons to choose from.

We could also give access to people to add their own that others could use. Something like a "Let other people use my avatar" button.
