SM2 + Flash 10 = Distorted Sound?
Windows Vista upgraded my Flash player to version 10 today and now my SM2 sound is distorted. Coincidence considering I made some changes to my server yesterday? Or are others experiencing a similar problem? The problem isn't as severe in IE7 as it is in FF3.

Inappropriate?Well, I tried some other sounds and everything seems fine. I still can't get my old sound to play properly; I fear I may have accidentally deleted the one that was working. I tried recompressing it but to no avail. Anyway, sorry for the false alarm.

Hm, that sounds kind of odd.. It's possible that one particular sound is just a bit problematic with the new Flash plugin, though that seems a little odd. Recompressing, perhaps with a different (higher) bitrate, may fix the problem. Flash does (or did) have some problems with playing sounds encoded at sample sizes other than 22 or 44 Khz.
I vaguely recall hearing the odd funny bit of sound with Flash player 10 on Mac, perhaps try restarting the computer just to be safe as well. -
Inappropriate? For what it's worth I have the same problem as Mike W, using Flash 10 and Vista. All my files were recorded as 48 KHz WAV, and as 48KHz MP3 they all distorted. When I converted them to 44.1KHz MP3 the distortion went away. Unfortunately the conversion to 44.1 made the speakers' voices deeper and also all my timecodes are now awry.
I’m frustrated

Sounds like you're changing the sampling rate in your sound editor (so the playback speed is affected), vs. actually converting the sampling rate. When making MP3s, also try bitrates between say 128 and 256 kbps; I forget exactly what values are troublesome, but some very low or very high bitrate MP3s (eg. 320 kbps?) might not play correctly in Flash. -
Inappropriate? Thanks a lot for your help - I tried again using BeSweet to do the resampling instead of Audacity and everything works great now.
I’m thankful
