Inappropriate?Hmm--what version of iTunes are you using?
-
Inappropriate?I am also having this problem with iTunes 7.6.1 (9) under OS X 10.5. It is a fresh install of OS X and iTunes and I am doing the transfer from an 8 GB iPhone running software version 1.1.4.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Minor addition, I can transfer some files. The main files which seem to be effected by this for me are podcasts and songs I have purchased from the Amazon MP3 Store.
-
Inappropriate?I'm using iTunes 7
-
Inappropriate?Just to clarify - version 7.6.1

Inappropriate?Have you tried this with the latest PodWorks (2.9.3)?
-
Inappropriate?i'm having the same problem. iTunes 7.6.2(9) and Podworks 2.9.3. tried it with my 160GB iPod, my nano. get the same error messages as LA above. did anything get sorted on this? that was a whole 24 days ago.......

Inappropriate? These sorts of things are always tough for me to solve since I can't reproduce the problem myself, and I don't have a whole lot to go on. Is there anything unusual about the names of the songs? Are you able to play the songs successfully on the iPod? Is there anything at all unusual about these particular songs you can tell me?

Inappropriate?I have the same error. I can play the tunes on the ipod, but cannot transfer them. iTunes 7.62, podworks 2.9.3, OS 10.5.2, 30GB 5th gen ipod with software update 1.3 installed. I can't copy the song files, or manualy move them to the desktop.
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?Update: I'm able to move music off another ipod. Seems to indicate that the ipod's the problem.
-
Inappropriate?I'm getting the same error on everything, AAC files, MPEG Audio
"-1700: iTunes got an error: Can't make some data the expected type"
iTunes 7.7.1 (11) and Podworks 2.9.3
OSX 10.5.4
Just bought it it, so I'm pretty disappointed: it doesn't work at all. -
Inappropriate?Same problem and same specs as Dan. Also just purchased and tried with both 80gb ipod and 4gb nano
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I have OS X 10.5.4
ipod 30 gig software version 1.3
podworks 2.9.3
iTunes version 7.7.1
same error message. then song list will disappear altogether saying that my ipod is not connected. Have to restart both iTunes and podworks each time after list disappears from podworks.
Just bought it today and was very excited about putting my music back on my computer.

Inappropriate?Same error here. Using iTunes 7.7.1 and PodWorks 2.9.3 (bought today) under OS X 10.5.4 and a 3G iPod (20GB) software version 2.3 I get error "-1700: iTunes got an error: Can't make some data into the expected type."
I agree it's a bit disappointing with everything up to date and it doesn't work at all....

Inappropriate?Which settings are you using? Copy, or Send to iTunes? Also, in Preferences, try different settings for the prevention of duplicates and the comparison mode. By playing with all of these I was eventually able to get the iPod contents to transfer back onto my son's computer (i.e. it wasn't a machine problem as I'd first thought). Turned out to be just as well, since he subsequently lost the iPod.....

Inappropriate? So I had the same error for a little bit with the latest gen iPod nano on first trying to use it to copy songs over to a new MacBook Pro. Turns out the problem simply stemmed from not having turned on "Enable disk use" in iTunes for my iPod.
I was confused for a while because on initially connecting the iPod (while PodWorks is running), the application downloads the songlist correctly -- problem is that after the iPod is automatically ejected from iTunes the application still displays the songlist, attempts to copy the songs off it, and fails (with an incomprehensible error) when I try to send all the songs to iTunes. Enabling disk use (and clicking apply) fixed this for me.
