iPhone app
I realize this is not a "feature" for Today, but more an idea of a new product for Second Gear, but I couldn't find a better place to start a discussion about it.
What I'd essentially would like is Today for the iPhone. Not as a webapp (which would be difficult anyway since Today just taps into the OS X calendar store), but as a full-blown app available through the iTunes app store when the 2.0 firmware is out.
Is this something you'd consider? I haven't got an iPhone yet, but will buy one once models with 3G and the 2.0 firmware is available. And if there's one place this app makes sense, it's on the iPhone. My day at a glance from everywhere. :)

If Apple provided a CalendarStore framework for the iPhone today, I'd already be working on it. I don't want to invest the time trying to figure out how they are storing the calendaring data on the phone though. I think my time is better spent focusing on the Mac app side and taking a patient, cautious approach to the iPhone.

Inappropriate?I have to say this is the only thing preventing me from buying Today. I love the idea of an integrated event/to do manager. As an iPhone user, having a useful "to do" manager is an incredibly important missing link for me. I hope Today will have an iphone app available soon. If so, I will definitely purchase!
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?I'm not happy with any task manager on the iPhone since none of them can sync with iCal & Today. The iPhone's calendar doesn't even support todo items.

Inappropriate?I hate to use the word PC, but calander intergrated with a 'TO DO LIST" would go a long way in getting business to move to MAC. I had the option before I converted to MAC. I don't understand how difficult that would be. It may seem like a small thing in the MAC world but is very big in the small business world. I am a converter from PC to MAC and have missed the "to do" list on my phone. Get with it MAC!! If you can do this I probably would get others to convert to the iphone and MAC.

Inappropriate?I am in the same boat as Joey. I'm a newer mac & iphone convert. I used a palm pilot for years to keep track of where I'm supposed to be when and what I am supposed to be doing daily. It changes every week, but there are some things that never change. I have appointments that need a time associated with them; I have things to do on a particular day that just need to get done. I want to see them all - in one place without switching to different apps. What to do...what to do

A Future view would be very helpful for us all. -
Inappropriate?Just wanted to throw in another vote of support for this idea, while also understanding why it might never come to pass. The highest compliment I can give a third-party app is that it feels like it came with the OS, and Today deserves that compliment in spades. The same would go for an iPhone/iPod Touch version. The CalendarStore issue is perhaps the biggest hole in the Swiss cheese that is the iPhone software.
I’m glad you're considering it!

Inappropriate?I have Today on my MacBook Pro. However, I just purchased an iPod Touch and now realize that Today NEEDS to be on this platform. Any updates on if this will happen ... or do I need to give up this idea and start looking elsewhere?

Inappropriate?Justins answer sums it up really.
Apple haven't published an API for accessing the calendar data on the iPhone. That is why there isn't a single program in the App store that interfaces with the built-in calendar in any way.
And if a program used undocumented APIs to accomplish this, it would never be accepted in the App store.
There are several ways around this (interface with MobileMe over CalDAV, require the user to move their calendars to an IMAP account, switch calendar store to Google Calendar, etc), but I don't think it's really worth it right now. It might be better to wait for the calendar API for the iPhone to become available at some later time.
