Inappropriate?When you sync your iPhone with your Mac, it will copy any changes you made on the phone into iCal and subsequently to Today.

That's just for events though. As far as I know, there's currently no way to see Tasks (what iCal calls To Do Items) on the iPhone; basically because there's no To Do application on the iPhone at this time. This will likely change later this year once third parties can distribute their own iPhone applications. -
Correct. If Apple were to add in a Task management utility to the iPhone that used the system settings, it'd sync up with Today automatically since I'd assume they'd be using the same framework.
