Today 1.5 Beta 2
We're really close to releasing Today 1.5 to the general public, but prior to the release, I think it would be appropriate to do a public beta to make sure no issues pop up in a wider usage sample.
Note: Please do not post this build to MacUpdate, VersionTracker, etc. When it is public and final, it will be fine to publicize it there, but for now I want to keep this somewhat private.

Inappropriate?I can't open the preferences window in Today 1.5b2 on ppc. It opens fine on my Intel iMac.
console says:
"*** -[NSKeyedUnarchiver decodeObjectForKey:]: cannot decode object of class (SRRecorderControl) "
and some free_garbage stuff -
Can you email me the com.secondgear.today.plist file from your PPC-based computer? justin at secondgearllc dot com -
Inappropriate?Today 1.5 RC1 is available. The only known issue is that the German localization still needs to be finalized. Please test this build out and if you don't run into any issues, I do plan to release it later this week.
Please don't publish this or announce it on any update sites. I'm not ready to spread this to a wider audience just yet.
Tweak: Added a Help button to the General preferences pane.
Tweak: Added partial German localization.
Tweak: Added French localization.
Tweak: Updated Help Book for Today 1.5

Bug Fix: Resolved issue with ShortcutRecorder not being compiled for PowerPC.

Inappropriate?I noticed a bug when creating tasks with alarms, being that my alarm was never going off when I expected it to. I took a look on iCal and the events created by Today (1.5 RC1) had alarms set to go off "the day before" and at the wrong time.
reproduce:
1) create a new event
2) assign set to 1pm 'today' (11/13/08)
3) set alarm for '5 minutes before' ('at that time' would be a great addition)
4) save
check ical, you'll see the alarm is set to go off at 11:55pm 'the day before' today (11/12/08).
This is constantly repeatable for all alarm settings. the following is what I got when I created an alarm for each increment, all of which had the event at 1pm 'today' (11/13/08).
15 minutes before gets you 'the day before' (TDB) @ 11:45 pm
30 mintes gets you TDB @ 11:30 pm
...
so on until you set to '1 day before', which gets you
12:00am the day after (11/14/08)
and '2 days before'
12:00am two days after (11/15/08)
I also tested with events one week a head (11/20/08) and got consistent results, an event on 11/20/08 with alarm programed to go off two days before was set to go off on 11/22/08

Is it only happening on tasks or also events? I'm looking into it, but it seems odd to only happen on one data type since they share code. -
Inappropriate?Sorry for the confusion, the above post of mine involves "tasks" only. I mistakenly used the term "events" occasionally.
I tested events and found better results, but still some mishaps.
5 min before through 1 hr before work as expected.
1 day before and 2 days before both create alarms for 1 day after, 2 days after respectively -
Ok. something has crept in that I need to analyze further. Thanks for pointing it out. If you don't already have a Today license, email me and I'll comp you one for the great bug find. -
Inappropriate?I wasn't sure if double clicking the license file also registered me, so afterwards I went to Preferences > license tab > and clicked the "register" button, but it's giving me an "open file" dialog instead of a link to a webpage or a form
-
Hmm. I probably should hide that button after ouy register. I did so in RC2 (Coming soon) -
Inappropriate?Ok. RC2 is up that _should_ resolve the alarm issues. Here's the full changelog.
- Resolved an issue with alarm intervals not being properly established.
- Alarms pull-down is now being disabled for tasks without a due date.
- Resolved a gender issue with German localization. Keine!
- Removed the ability to set the time of a CalTask since it's not saved by the system.
You can grab it at http://secondgearllc.com/downloads/la...
Hopefully that irons out the issues with 1.5 and we can ship. If not, please let me know.
