Today Once Again in my Dock
With the new update today is once again in my dock. In fact, every update puts it back in my dock and I have to find a way to get rid of it. I'd give my right arm for a check box that said "keep today out of my dock", but I guess that's not happening.
So with the new release, any tips on (once again) getting it out of my dock.

Here's a beta build that looks to solve the issue. The only thing different from the official 1.1 is that it stops awakeFromNib from being called a second time when I load the registration nib.

Inappropriate? If you control-click on the dock icon does it say "Keep in dock" or "Remove from Dock"? If it says Remove from dock, click that.
What happens if you reset the dock preference? -
Inappropriate? It says "keep in dock" so I can't click remove from dock.
I can reset dock preferences over and over, which requires a restart each time, and it pops up in my dock every time.
After the first update, resetting the dock preferences did the trick. Not this time however.
Thanks for the reply.

Inappropriate?Looks like this is the newer thread (sorry for bumping the old 1.0.1 one earlier). This is persistent in 1.1 release for me, and trashing prefs does not help.
Starts up in Dock, then I check "Show Today in Menu Bar" in prefs, then restart when asked ... boom. Today in both the Dock and the Menu Bar.
-
Inappropriate?I had this issue too, but I just registered Today and then unchecked "show in menubar", restarted, rechecked, and restarted again and now Today is no longer in the dock! Maybe this is something that only works once you've registered? Anyway, worked for me! Hope it does for you as well!
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I can't reproduce the issue some people are reporting with the new dock/menu bar switching code on either of my machines.
1. Are you on a PowerPC or Intel Mac?
2. Are you on 10.5.2+?
3. Are you upgrading from 1.0.1 or starting with 1.1 fresh? -
Inappropriate?Intel Mac, OS X 10.5.2, fresh (and unregistered) Today 1.1, same problem.
-
Inappropriate?I think the problem lies with the registration dialog sheet. The instant Today starts (in the Menu Bar) it is NOT in the Dock, but the moment the registration dialog appears so does the Dock icon ... and it doesn't go away after dismissing the dialog.
Intel C2D, 10.5.2, overwrote 1.0.1 but trashed prefs after the bug first appeared.
If registering makes it work ... well, I'll just have to register :)

I was just going to post this. Having used 'today' for about 10 minutes now, at first I was frustrated that there wasn't a way in the prefs to make it not display in the dock. So I opened the info.plist to edit it and add LSUIElement = 1, but it was already there....on close/reopen I noted that it _is_ the registration sheet that fubars LSUIElement.
Well, one more reason to register.... -
Don't know if "same here"-posts are good etiquette for getsatisfaction.com, but yeah. The same happened here. :)
I just installed Today at another Mac. Upon restart I was first asked if I wanted automatic updates downloaded. During this dialog, there was no icon in the dock. As soon as I answered that dialog, the register dialog popped up and so did the dock icon. -
Inappropriate?Intel mac, latest everything. Even uninstalled and reinstalled. I think geoff might have the answer. If so, maybe it can be noted by second gear.

Inappropriate?Geoff nailed it. It looks like TransformProcessType is being called too early in the application's launch and it getting held up by displaying the registration sheet. I'll work on a fix and post a beta here for you to test out.

I'm getting a 404 on that URL -
Try now. I forgot the 's' on downloads. -
Now it works! :) -
Thanks. That did the trick.
