Check Off stores both your list items and preferences in /Users/[Home]/Library/Preferences/com.carpeaqua.checkoff.plist
You can either manually back it up or use Time Machine or our .Mac Backup Quickpick to make sure your data is safe.

Inappropriate?Is it possible to import/export the data in a readable format? I'm not specifically a Mac OS developer but do a lot of ruby/web development and want to integrate this seeminly nice and simple app with a web service I use which provides an API.

Inappropriate?I really like the simplicity of todoist.com. I think it's workflow is similar to Checkoff app and perhaps they could compliment each other (that'd be awesome).
I'm not sure if I personally have time to figure it out though; can only spend so much time working on a GTD-solution before it interferes too much with actually getting things done.
