Stop posting ST replies
Please stop posting replies to secrettweets. Most replies, if not all of them, are inane and insensitive and in a way negates the point of secrettweet.

Inappropriate?Underneath every reply, there's a link that says "Flag this reply" -- that will remove it from public review.
Even with the ability for ANY user to remove replies from public review, do you still feel it necessary to remove commenting all together?
How do you feel the quality of replies/comments could be improved? -
Inappropriate?I'm not interested in policing responses, I'm just frustrated with the responses' general quality and with the fact that there are responses at all. Perhaps those STers with the more desperate secrets are seeking advice here, but for me the purpose of ST is the simple and anonymous unburdening of a secret. What's the point of a comment--or viewing a comment--if it's only going to be judgmental, moralistic, or irrelevant? The secrets that do get sympathetic comments seem to be more socially acceptable/relatable problems, whereas those that are a little out there get nasty, childish one-liners. I don't care for either type. I guess when I first followed ST I didn't see it as a forum to blatantly judge other people's problems; there are many other unremarkable sites out there that encourage this kind of banter, and I dislike that ST has been brought to that level.
So: I guess I'm making a plea for ST to return to what it was initially, a quick, voyeuristic window into other people's problems, fetishes, fears, happinesses, etc., where the reader can be shocked, sympathetic, pissed, grateful for a kindred spirit, etc., and to leave the commenting/trolling to IMDb.
In terms of improving quality of comments, I've no good idea, sorry. Is there an ST forum for people to go to, sort of like what you get on Slate.com? Television Without Pity has a strict commenting policy, but I don't know if ST is interested in being so monitored.
Not even sure my complaint will be taken seriously--perhaps I've missed the mark completely. Oh, well. Thanks for reading/listening. -
Inappropriate?I totally agree that *some* comments are innappropriate. A few weeks ago, I began moderating ALL comments that came into the site -- that takes too much time and should not have to be done. I then returned to where users to flag comments.
I'll do this: I'll send out a few tweets asking everyone if they feel comments should be removed and, if so, why. If there are enough people who agree with you, I'll turn comments off and things will go back to the way they were a few months ago :)

Inappropriate?I'm sure it's great for people to have the option to comment, so I don't see my complaint changing anything. I'll just make it a point not to check for comments and to just enjoy the secret for what it is. I just got so exasperated today when I saw an especially cheeky comment to a sad secret-- I see now that it's been removed, so maybe the inappropriate-flagging really does work. Nice.
Thanks for hearing me out!
(One last thing in case [unlikely!] the comments do get removed: I like how on PostSecret the only commenter is the person [people?] who runs the site, and the comments are always insightful and useful. Just a thought...)
I’m glad

Inappropriate?I don't think that removing the commenting would be a good idea. I do like the idea of flagging comments but even then, maybe a modified removal process should be used. Instead of one flagging removing the comment, it should maybe 5 flaggings before it's removed. Doesn't seem fair to remove it if only one person is offended by it. It should be an overall feeling.

I'm new to ST but I really like this idea: 5 flags gets a comment removed. I think commenting is important because I can certainly imagine people would check the website to see what replies their secret has gotten, and in some cases these may be validating and comforting. -
