Twihrl keeps crashing silently: Every now and then I notice that the app is no longer working. After I restart it works for about 10 to 50 minutes, then just stops working. This is totally random, there is no warning message, no crash error, nothing. Just stops working. This has been happening on every computer I use (4 of them) since v0.8.3. The only constant was the OS, Windows XP. Any ideas?
When I first set up twhirl I put someone other than myself as the user. I uninstalled from the control panel.
I've tried everything on several pages here- manually deleting app, deleting Air, reg cleaning, searching my HD for anything with "twhirl" in the name and deleting it, rebooting- still getting the "The application could not be installed. Try installing it again. If the problem persists, contact the application author. Error 3003." Help!
Win XP Pro SP3
When minimize twhirl to tray option is selected and Vista (home premium sp1) goes to sleep, sometimes on wake up the tray icon disappears but task manager shows it is still running (plus hear dings). End task and restart brings it back, but I loose many tweets in my time line that had accumulated.
For urls with anchor references, the "shorten url" function does not include the anchor. However, if pasting the complete url into the twhirl box, the short url upon publish is correct.
I have accounds for Twitter, FriendFeed, and identi.ca all open at once. Windows XP gets noticeably slower. When I hover and move the mouse over any of the Twhirl windows, the mouse is really choppy and almost unusable. Each window is very slow to respond to clicks and scrolls as well. I get roughly the same behavior on OS X 10.5.5, just not quite as bad as on Windows XP.
On OSX twhirl reacts poorly to application switching. When the window gets focus it always does a getURL if the post has a url in it -- and it seems to make random favorites to my twitter account.
there should be some better handling. this makes the application nearly unusable -- creating datapoints on my twitter account when i don't want them , and opening up urls in safari/firefox nearly every time i try to switch to twhirl.
if i click on a url in a twhirl window, it should only open a URL if twhirl is the active app.
A minor thing, but the linking of @names seems to hyperlink parts of email addresses as well (the first part of the domain name). A suggestion would be to only hyperlink @names if the @ is at the beginning of the update, or if the character before it is whitespace.
twhirl was working fine for me till yesterday. Today, it does log me in but always gives me errors on accessing the APIs.. It hasn't retrieved any data!
Twhirl tries to open links in dreamweaver not in Safari in OS X. When I try to click on a link that is posted from twitter in my twhirl window, it tries to open dreamweaver instead of opening the link in my browser!
Profile images do not show up in @ replies unless the case (cap/lowercase) matches the other user's information exactly. For example, if a user has the first character of their username capitalized, and another user replies without that same capitalization, the profile image will nogt appear -- a grey box will appear in its place.
I am unable to tweet from the twhirl client. I receive message updates from people, but if I type in a message or reply to a message and hit send update, I get the popular windows error "twhirl.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I am running windows XP SP2. Please help! I've triend uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail.
Twitter API Usage scale in Twhirl reach a maximum of 60 req/hour.
At the moment Twitter API limit is 100 req/hour, so... should be useful to increase this limit in Twhirl... :)
It appears that accessing the twitter API is not threaded in twhirl. So the UI is freezing while you update and then not clearing the UI queue so that if I was scrolling when you poll you suddenly allow all of those inputs (scrolling, clicking, etc) to replay and cause havoc in the UI. So, please flush the queue or prevent input (glass pan) and put up a wait icon while you're doing synchronous polling and/or thread the background operations
I log in, but get immediately booted. I can see that it's showing me current tweets, but I only stay connected for a second (at best). I miss my twhirl!
Twhirl 0.8.3 is entirely broken. It will stay like this for hours and not update at all. Sometimes if I restart Twhirl it does ok, others not. This happens on multiple machines, with different accounts.
I am unable to upgrade from 0.81 to 0.82 or 0.83, nor can I uninstall twhirl.
I get the following message when I try to upgrade:
"Sorry. an error has occurred.
An error occurred while updating the application. Try updating it again. If the problem persists, contact the application author."
And if I try to uninstall Twhirl (by selecting more options and then clicking uninstall), I get the same message, except everywhere the above message says "updating" it says "uninstalling" instead.
I am receiving error messages all the time My Twhirl says exceeded limitation, error receiving messages. At top it says Paused. All this when I have not received or sent tweets within hours. Also my avatars are missing sometimes.
