Good morning,Seesmic. I'm intrigued with the concept of "Anonymous" communicating in sign language on Seesmic (see several posts by Mr. Anonymous on Friday a.m.) That opens a whole new world for individuals who are non-verbal. If "Anonymous" is communicating with the Seesmic community (rather than one friend) it would be nice for the Seesmic staff to get a sign language interpreter in the SF area to take a look at his messages just so you folks would be able to get to know the needs and interests of the signing community. Sign language is used, of course, by many individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, but also by individuals who are non-verbal. This also brings up the idea of a concept someone brought up earlier - that of having a space to type in maybe two lines of script at the bottom of a video.
Once the privacy feature is firm and I can send Seesmic messages to the broader community, I will be having many of my music therapy students with special needs record blurbs to send to their families, their relatives who live far away, and other important people in their lives. Many of my students cannot talk, but they can demonstrate a short song on the piano or show their favorite book or otherwise communicate visually. Some can type, so it would be nice if they could type in a few key words at the bottom. So, again, maybe a place for two lines at the bottom (it could be actually on the bottom of the screen.)
Thank you for considering these thoughts. And best wishes as you move forward with this concept of making visual communication very accessible to the general public. + Cathy
