Can't configure Seesmic Desktop in Ubuntu - the Apply|Save|Cancel buttons are missing

I cannot finish installing Seesmic Desktop. When I reach the Configuration dialog, the Apply | Save | Cancel buttons are missing. Strangely, when the dialog first opens, these buttons display for an instant but then disappear immediately. Consequently I am unable to add a Twitter account. (My netbook runs Ubuntu Linux 8.04.1)
