Inappropriate? That's a known issue of the AIR installation process, unfortunately.
Have you tried to manually download the twhirl installation package to your computer, store it on your local drive, and double-click it from there to install it? You'll find the installation package at http://www.twhirl.org/files/twhirl-0.... -
Inappropriate?I think I've finally been able to uninstall both AIR and Twhirl, and will try to start over once I've run a registry cleaner. Thanks for the feedback. I'll let you know how it goes.
I’m confident

Inappropriate? That didn't work. Not sure what to do at this point. I ran the Twhirl installation package from my desktop after reinstalling AIR manually. Getting same error, that I need to get a new AIR file from the Author.

Inappropriate? That's actually weird, as the file available from our server is definitely not damaged. Can you mail me at info@twhirl.org, so I can send you a clean copy of the install package by mail?
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Will do, Thanks!

Inappropriate?I am having the same problems, however I'm on Windows XP. I tried to uninstall twirl and could not. Tried to re-install and get an error message. It says that my air file is corrupted, but am unable to uninstall:( Help?

Inappropriate? Finally figured this out. before reinstalling, make sure twhirl is uninstalled. You may have to do this manually. I removed the twhirl folder from the Program Files folder. Then, I ran a registry cleaner -- I'm using RegCure -- to remove references to the program. I think you can use RegCure free on a trial basis, but there are others as well. RegCure is a pretty good deal to buy, by the way.
Then BEFORE trying to reinstall twhirl, shut down and restart. This removes any registry info from memory. I think this is where the real problem was for me. Nothing wrong with AIR per se, but something in memory was preventing the twhirl package from running.

Inappropriate?I'm having a similar problem, except I haven't installed Thwirl before. Just downloaded Air and Thwirl, installed Air and then tried to install Thwirl... Which came up with the "Air file damaged" error mentioned here.
Tried uninstalling Air and starting again, but again, no success. -
Inappropriate?I had this problem on Ubuntu when I upgraded to AIR beta. The solution is to run Synaptic and uninstall the registered Twhirl entry (something like 'de.makesoft.twhirl.0ea062bc275e7ed1e6ec3762effd73c7158adf33.1')
This purges the old directory from the installation and allows the new version to correctly install.
For some reason Adobe AIR is also writing entries to the package manager (handy, but confusing if you didn't use a package mgr to install anything).

Inappropriate?Same issue on Mac OS X, but is happening with any new AIR app. I have uninstalled AIR, deleted apps and prefs.

Inappropriate? After a couple hours of tweaking in Linux I think I've narrowed down the problem.. For all of you running Ubuntu uninstall Twhirl like neil said by opening the Synaptic Package Manager (System/Administration/Synaptic) simply type in Twhirl and there should be one package installed, remove it. (you might want to do this with any other air apps you have installed too) Next uninstall AIR too (from synaptic or the applications menu) Wait to reinstall because there is one particular folder that causes some issues. Navigate to your home folder (/home/username/) and press Ctrl+H to show all the hidden folders. Open the .appdata folder this contains all the configuration files for your AIR apps and if you were switching over from the beta or having some issues that folder can cause you troubles. Its safe to delete the whole folder. Then reinstall AIR and Twhirl and bingo you're back in business!
note: not sure if it's related or not but I also deleted all AIR files in /opt/ and /var/opt/ (make sure you're root) and did a search for twhirl and AIR files and deleted them all. I also reinstalled flash.
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?I found an answer that worked for me on OS X. It requires removing an untrusted or self-signed certs from the Mac OS X Keychain. I had created a self-signed cert for a web server at work and that caused Air to complain about damaged Air file. Here is the Adobe thread. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/48542
Hope this helps.
