Inappropriate? What do you mean exactly? There is an existing issue when using Twhirl on a Mac, where clicking links in Twhirl opens a new window instead of a new tab if you use Firefox. The problem is tied to Adobe AIR in that case, not Twhirl.

Inappropriate?I am using XP and when I click a link in twhirl, it opens the link in two different tabs (doesn't open a new instance of Firefox).
I’m irritated.

Inappropriate? The Mac issue described by Andrew has already been fixed in the latest AIR release 1.5 (release date: 11/17/2008). Twhirl should correctly open a new tab for you now in Firefox.

Inappropriate?AKii and Chris: I'm using Windows XP SP2, Twhirl 0.8.7, Firefox 3.0.3, clicking on a click in Twhirl correctly opens one tab for me with AIR 1.5. If you still can reproduce this issue consistently, please post the steps. Thanks..

On Windows XP SP3, Twhirl 0.8.7, Firefox 3.0.5, AIR 1.5.0.7220. Simply open Firefox, open Twhirl, click a link in Twhirl and I get two tabs opened in Firefox. -
Inappropriate?DJSolitaire: I just tried Windows XP SP3, Twhirl 0.8.7, Firefox 3.0.5, AIR 1.5.0.7220, but Twhirl still only opened one tab for me in Firefox. Did you upgrade to Firefox 3.0.5 from a previous version, or you installed it fresh? Also were you getting two tabs while Firefox was opened, or closed? If Firefox was opened, how many tabs were there or none?

Upgraded to Firefox 3.0.5. Got two tabs while Firefox was already open. Two tabs already open.
Here are my installed Firefox add-ons, if that helps:
Delicious Bookmarks 2.1.018
Fast Dial 2.22b
IE Tab 1.5.20081203
LogMeIn Remote Access Plugin 1.0.0.395
meebo 1.1
SmoothWheel 0.44.16.20081003.3
Snap Links 0.0.5
StumbleUpon 3.28
Tab Mix Plus 0.3.7.3
Tiny Menu 1.4.9
Yoono 5.2.1 -
Thanks. I installed all your add-ons but still couldn't get it to happen. Could it be some non-default settings you have in Tab Mix Plus that may have caused this? For those two tabs opened by Twhirl, did the link content show up in tab #1 or #2? If in #2, what is in #1? -
The link content shows up in both tabs. The only non-default setting I have in TMP is to move the new tab button to the left side of the tab bar. -
I tried this setting in TMP Options > Tab > Show: Place on left side, but still was not able to see this problem. Can you see if starting Firefox in safe mode (e.g. using command "firefox.exe -safe-mode") would make a difference? Can you also post a couple of the Twhirl sample links that you were using? -
Safe mode seems to be OK. No double-opened links.
Anything clickable in Twhirl can open twice in Firefox. TwitPic links, TinyURL's, and @username links.

That was the latest link to open twice, if you need a specific one.
I should also point out that it doesn't happen every time. I'd say about 1 in every 8 clicks results in proper behavior (only one tab opened). -
Inappropriate? As Safe Mode is working fine for you, I'd recommend to follow the "Standard Diagnostic Steps" (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_di...(Firefox)) published by MozillaZine to identify whether the problem is caused by incompatible themes, add-ons, or programming errors in plugins.Of interest to try would be step #4, 5 and 6.
