How do I make Twhirl use SSL?
Twhirl will not use SSL / HTTPS. This is a security problem, specifically for people who have their own Laconi.ca server running over SSL

Inappropriate?Agreed. Both FriendFeed and Twitter support SSL (https://). Twirl should always try SSL first on any server when passing a user's password and if that fails then use http for the rest of that session.
I’m also worried

Inappropriate?I too am worried as I use facebook now in conjunction with laconica microblog software.
I’m Scared really really scared!

Inappropriate?I'm also concerned about this, in regards to having an account being taken over by a spammer

Inappropriate?Just did a packet capture of Twhirl (0.9) sending updates to Twitter and Friendfeed. SSL was used for Twitter but not Friendfeed even though Friendfeed has SSL enabled on their API so it seems the API endpoint (http or https) is hard coded.
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?Yep -- this is an issue for us too. Have initial internal laconi.ca server set up and running -- only allowing SSL traffic. And am able to send and recieve from Gwibber on Ubuntu, but not from Twirl. :(
I’m sad
