How do I stop "read" replies from showing when starting twhirl?
Is there a way to stop old replies from showing up every time I start twhirl? I've noticed this issue listed on trac for twhirl as well. The more replies I get, the less I can see of the unseen tweets that have come in since I logged into twitter via twhirl

Inappropriate?Hi,
thanks for your feedback!
twhirl does not store information about your tweets locally between sessions, it downloads and displays them only while it is running. It cannot remember which one you already saw the last time you used the program.
On start, twhirl fetches the last 20 tweets in your timeline, the last 20 replies and the last 20 direct messages, so you might see messages as new again that were already available earlier.
We might consider adding support to remember what you have already seen in a future version.
I’m hoping this helps

I just updated a couple of issues on the twhirl trac page with a link to this discussion -
Marco, I could've sworn this behavior worked as people in this thread wanted in 0.8.2 but not in 0.8.3.... -
Inappropriate?I'd like to second the request for that feature -- I don't get that many DMs and replied, so I don't need to see them over and over and over again.
Thanks!
I’m looking forward to this

Inappropriate?Consider this a third request. i have a 260 day old direct message that shows up at each startup. She probably realizes i'm not going to respond.
I’m tired of being forced to sign into every new f'n site.

Inappropriate? Please fix this, its is super annoying.
-
Inappropriate?I fully agree. What's the point in being able to mark something as seen if its going to continually come back on you? Either remove the functionality to mark tweets as being seen, or implement it fully so you're not lying to your users.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?+1 for this feature; it's a must!

Inappropriate? This is frustrating. I suggest adding a configuration checkbox that is defaulted to off which states:
__ Load the previous 20 tweets, replies and direct messages upon startup?
I’m surprised that this is not how it is implemented.
-
Inappropriate?I echo the frustration. Keep looking at DM's and Replies multiple times.
I’m living ground hog day

Inappropriate?Nick is totally right. It's kinda ridiculous to have a "mark seen" feature, that only works on a per-session basis. Please fix this!
I’m not amused.
-
Inappropriate?me too, it would also help when switching between work computer and home computer so I don't get confused over which tweets I've already seen and which ones I haven't...I think that's a slightly different solution than what you're talking about and would require a server based solution to coordinate between computers.
I’m bummed
-
Inappropriate?Add me to the list of people who would like to see this configuration feature implemented. Like many others, I don't get that many directs or replies, and it's annoying to have year-old replies show up every time I launch twhirl.
I’m hoping this gets added.

Inappropriate? The ability to remember seen tweets would be perfect. Is very annoying to check the really new ones since they all have the yellow star.
-
Inappropriate?Yes I agree this is a problem, couldn't we have a way of choosing the amounts of tweets, replies and DMs we want to see each time we open?
-
Inappropriate?Rather than having a hard coded 20 tweets, 20 replies and 20 DMs, how about making those values configurable in the settings? I have more than 20 tweets when I login, and very few replies and DMs.
