Links Do Not Open In Twhirl Twitter Client
I cannot open browser links in Twhirl anymore? Anyone have some ideas? I try opening a link and it does not open any new tabs in Firefox 2.0. Thanks for helping :)

Inappropriate? When I click a link my text editor (Textpad) opens with this message:
---------------------------
TextPad
---------------------------
OK to create
'C:\Users\Ryan\Desktop\http:\tinyurl.com\5qnukg'
---------------------------
Yes No
---------------------------
Weird. No fun.

Inappropriate?I think I figured out what is going on.
I recently tried the FF 3 beta. During this process FF 2 (my default browser) was uninstalled. Windows simply removed the default browser setting from the "default programs" control panel. I can only guess that this leaves Twhirl with no browser to call upon.
To fix it (on Vista) go to Control Panel->Default Program->Open currently selected configuration->Default Browser. Then select your browser of choice. I rebooted the system, but I am not sure that you have to.
For what it's worth, this issue also manifested as being unable to open links from Outlook.
That's it. -
Inappropriate?Doh! I tried that before, but chose "Set your default programs". My browser was already set there, but I re-set it again. No joy.
This time I selected in the Default Programs "Set program access and computer defaults". For the "default browser" it was set to "My current web browser". I selected Internet Explorer and then it now works (you could also do the same for FF)
Yeah! All working now.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I am still having this issue. It happened after the FF3 installation also. I tried both above. But Google Talk links don't work either. Those are the only two that don't seem to work. I am fine with copy and paste on Talk but Twhirl doesn't allow this.

Inappropriate?Just fixed the issue on mine. I have Vista and Flock. I did both of the things explained here and nothing worked. In fact, everywhere I looked, Flock was already default. So I went to the start menu and typed this in without the quotes: "flock.exe -silent -setDefaultBrowser" . Wasn't sure where to put this but I'm sure others have to have the same issue.

Inappropriate?I had a similar problem on Mac OS X. It ended up being that twhirl uses the default .html file opener for the links. Since I have .html files opening with Textmate, it would never get to the browser. When I changed my .html extensions to be opened with FireFox all was well.
Since I don't want my .html files normally opened with Firefox I would suggest a change in twhirl to use the default browser of the OS, not the default .html client.

Thanks for the tip, i have the same problem. -
i agree with zelph, the new version of twhirl should have this feature -
@zelph totally agree, have the same problem -
I agree with Zelph, changing .html extensions to be opened in a browser is not a solution as I want my .html files opened in a text editor, but links opened in my default browser. -
Inappropriate? Thanks, zelph. I've been wondering if there was a workaround for this.
There is a similar issue at http://getsatisfaction.com/seesmic/to... -
Inappropriate?Speaking of switching the default opener, I've been using Choosy to work around this bug: http://www.choosyosx.com/about
I’m back to using twhirl now

Inappropriate?I just moved to Linux Mint with Firefox 3.5, and i've been having the same problem... Twhirl won't open any link a click on, no matter what i do. I did everything posted here, and nothing changes.
And for the looks of it, i'll have to change twitter client, cause this hasn't been solved in a year :S...

Inappropriate?@Azrael:
Twhirl is now Seesmic Desktop, the last version of which I used had a fix for this in it.
