Login Issue - error message saying sorry cannot login you in
I am trying to login and keep getting the error message, sorry cannot login you in with that username and password. I have checked and doublechecked the password. I then changed my password at twitter.com and retried it. Still doesn't work.

If you absolutely cannot get twhirl to log you in, try removing all of twhirl's configuration manually. Where the files are located, depends on you operating system. Generally, they all can be found under your user profile directory.
To get a clean start, close twhirl and do the following:
There is a file called "accounts.xml" which should be in a folder called "de.makesoft.twhirl.<random_characters>". Delete this.
The Encrypted Store used by twhirl to store passwords consists of multiple files, their names start with "PrivateEcryptedData". They are located in a folder called "Adobe\AIR\ELS\de.makesoft.twhirl.<random_characters>". Delete all of them.
Attention: you need to look for folders with <random_characters>. There might be folders without these (called "de.makesoft.twhirl" only); these are from Adobe AIR beta versions and are not used anymore. Deleteing them or anything inside them does not affect current versions of twhirl!
Hope this helps.</random_characters></random_characters></random_characters>

You don't need to use this site to get support. You can also contact @twhirl on twitter, or write to info@twhirl.org

There are verious reasons that could cause this problem.
Maybe you are behind a proxy that needs authentication? Currently, this is not supported by AIR.
Or twhirl cannot access the internet from your computer, maybe due to a firewall blocking it?
Some passwords are also known to cause problems when used via the API, especially when containing non-US-characters.

Inappropriate?None of those suggestions apply to me; ever since the great Twitter Macworld meltdown, I've not been able to get twhirl to log into twitter. Snitter and Twitterrific work just fine, and even uninstalling and reinstalling twhirl and Adobe Air don't clear up the problem.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?* same problem here with firewall both on and off on mac os x leopard 10.5.2
* password with just letters and numbers
* newest adobe air
* not behind a proxy
* other clients do work normally (twitterrific, spaz)
* i like this one better
* it won't log in
* tried it with multiple different accounts
* even waited a few hours in between tries, quit the application in between so the number of requests (70) would be reset again, if that would have caused problems
* still won't log in
[ Authentication failed - Sorry, could not log you in to twitter with that username and password ]

Inappropriate?Same here: Win XP Pro SP2. SInce the new version of AIR, can't log in to either twitter identity. No wierd pw or characters.
I abhor the use of this site for support by the way, it wastes a huge amount of time. Sorry. I'd rather donate to the software people than have to use getsatisfaction -

Inappropriate?Same problem. Using Windows XP SP2. I tried deleting config files. I was prompted to create a new account in Twhirl, but when I did, I got the same error message.

Inappropriate?Rechecked my AV software. It was blocking Twhirl. Everything's back to normal. Thanks.
