Twhirl and Google Chrome
How can I get Twhirl to open links in Google Chrome instead of Firefox? I tried selecting it as the default in "set program access and computer defaults"

Hey all, unfortunately this is a know issue with Adobe AIR, that we are still waiting on a better solution for. However, you might find some useful tips over here.

Inappropriate?Already done. Still doesn't work.
-
Inappropriate?Does Chrome think its the default browser or does it say its not currently default? If you haven't yet, be sure to the old faithful... reboot, try again.
-
Inappropriate? It does indeed think it's the default. I've even set it as the default within Windows as I've mentioned above. Perhaps I haven't rebooted since trying a step. No time like the present.
-
Inappropriate?I've got the same problem. Chrome is the default browser according to windows, but Twhirl doesn't recognise it.
Could be because of something in the AIR api?
Going to search around windows a bit. -
Inappropriate?add me to this list. other apps know that chrome is my default browser, just twhirl.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Well I don't appear to be a good resource, Chrome is my default browser and links from Twhirl work fine. I can't find anything in Twhirl to change browser selection but assume since it accepts my default browser that it is looking at a global variable.

Thanks Thomas. Unfortunately doesn't help. Even tried uninstalling Firefox, but that then just defaults back to IE. -
Inappropriate?I had had exactly this problem with Firefox + Twhirl. (That is, Twhirl was opening IE) Tried doing all the steps above *then* and it worked... now changing the defaults via Windows again, even after reboot, seems not to have any impact. I still get Firefox, not Chrome.

Inappropriate?yup same here

Inappropriate?I figured it out on Vista... regedit to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.html and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.htm
Modify the default for each from FireFoxHTML to ChromeHTML.
It should work like a charm

Hey BEWins - great tip! -
Fantastic! -
Works, thanks a lot! -
I would go further and find all occasions of FirefoxHTML to ChromeHTML, you'd be surprised how many kinds of file extensions exist. -
Thanks for the tip. Works like a charm. -
Inappropriate?well thats odd as iv got Google chrome working lovly with twhirl
altho iv never installed firefox on my computer so would that help ?
I’m indifferent
-
Inappropriate? This is easily fixed by a tiny Registry hack. You need to alter the "(Default)" value in your ".html" and ".htm" keys, which are both located in the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" hive. Set both values to read "ChromeHTML", and you’re done.
