I solved this problem by deleting twhirl's private encrypted data folder (\Users\username\Application Data\Adobe\AIR\ELS\de.makesoft.twhirl.random_numbers) listed here.

Inappropriate? Most of the time, the problem is that the password was stored wrong (typos happen to the best of us) or the password has been changed on twitter, but not in twhirl.
How to fix:
1. Open twhirl settings
2. Click "Accounts" tab
3. Select the account that is having issues
4. Click "Forget password"
5. Click Connect
6. Enter (correct) password
7. Feel free to check "remember my password"
If you are still having trouble getting Twhirl to remember your password. Please add your comments below. =)

Inappropriate? When I go to Accounts, I don't see any. I have to add a bogus account just to see my account name. Forgetting password doesn't help. Also tried removing the account from the XML and readding it in Twhirl. No joy.

Inappropriate?I have the same problem as Scott. I can't see my account and when I do add an extra account to see it I cannot edit it. I have to log in to twitter every time I open twhirl.
I don't know if it's related but I also can only submit one tweet. then the writing stays in the input box and I have to restart twhirl to change it again. and login again.
I’m missing my twhirl!

Inappropriate?Below is information on where to find your accounts.xml and twhirl.log files. It would be very helpful if you could send these as attachments in an email to support at seesmic dot com These will hopefully help us track down a solution for you.
From http://twhirl.org/faq :
Max OS X:
/Users/< username >/Library/Preferences/de.makesoft.twhirl.
< random >/Local Store
Windows:
C:\Documents and Settings\< username >\Application Data\de.makesoft.twhirl.< random >\Local Store
Attention: you need to look for folders ending with < random >. There might be folders without these (called “de.makesoft.twhirl” only); these were created by previous Adobe AIR beta versions and are not used anymore.

Inappropriate? Can't find this path on my windows vista ultimate. Anyone found it?
-
Inappropriate?I'm under Vista Ultimate. What's the problem? It's pretty easy.
1. Open Run application (Win+R)
2. Type %APPDATA%\Adobe\AIR\ELS\
3. Explorer comes up
4. Delete de.makesoft.twhirl.random_numbers folder
5. Enjoy :) -
Thanks for that, I've found the file. I've deleted that, uninstalled all air apps along with adobe air and I still can't log into twirl. There must be some preference file somewhere which needs to be deleted. Any thoughts? -
Inappropriate? You can try doing an advanced search for de.makesoft.twhirl and deleting all the results.

shouldn't there only be one result? -
I found more than one, in a few different Application Data folders... it was a while ago, so I don't remember exactly where now. -
cool - ill give it another try. this isnt great for my first time using twhirl! -
that worked! thanks a lot. -
Inappropriate?I had the exact same problem on my MacBook Pro. It manifested itself when I transferred data from another MBP using the migration wizard (I copied data back off my Time Capsule backup).
Here's what fixed it:
Go to {user} - library - adobe - air - de.makeshift.twhirl.{bunch of random numbers and letters}
Delete that folder (if you look inside the folder it will have a bunch of files with the description encrypted something or other)
Re-start Twhirl and once again I was able to save my user account and start/stop Twhirl without having to constantly log in.
I’m relieved

Inappropriate?Excellent solution. Thanks, SpyBot. The path I used to find mine was C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\ELS
