Unable to follow Twitter friends using Twhirl client
I am unable to follow anyone on Twitter using Twhirl. Every time I do I get the "limit exceeded" message, even though Twhirl is still downloading new tweets.

Inappropriate?I get the same issue with Twhirl - adding is not working. Everything else seems fine.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate? If there are 16 employees listening and participating, why haven't we even heard a 'We're aware of the problem and working on it'? I feel bad whinging about a free product but I think we'd feel better if the issue was at least acknowledged.
I’m also frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hi all, sorry for the delayed reply. We have found the source of the issue (a change in the twitter API) and are working on a fix for the next release.
-
Inappropriate?I have this problem, but with identi.ca - same API... same problem? Just wanted you to know so the engineers are sure to check both. :-)
-
Inappropriate?I get the same “API limit exceeded” error when creating favourites.
I see Loic doesn't use favourites much. If you don't use the feature yourself, and you can't rely on Twitter's API stability, I recommend you run weekly unit tests against some dummy accounts.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? Please let us know when this is fixed. Not fun having to copy the username and then paste it into a browser
I’m irritated
-
Download the 0.8.5 preview; the issue is fixed in it. -
You shouldn't have to copy and paste. You can at least right click on the username and select "open in browser". -
Inappropriate?Too bad. This is really something that puts other twitter client ahead...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?FYI, version 0.8.6 fixes this. It's available as an update via the client itself and on the website.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? No it doesn't. I can't request to follow people with protected updates. And I got 0.8.6.
I’m frustrated

Perhaps it doesn't work for people w/ protected updates. If that's the case, that's a different issue and I'd suggest starting a new thread. -
I think korym was trying to be helpful by suggesting you start a new thread so that the issue of not being able to request to follow people with protected updates can get more attention since it's an issue that is more specific than the original topic here. -
Inappropriate?I do appreciate the help and comments of all you guys. But in my opinion my issue is quite the same as this thread's title.
I'm not the type of hardcore-coder but obviously my problem and the one discussed so far have similar if not same reasons - don't you agree? -
Hi moses3k, these actually are unrelated issues. The problem brought up in this thread was related to breaking a feature that previously existed. That issues has been solved. The idea you're bringing up is a feature that has never existed. I'm happy to create a new idea topic for you, because I think it's a good suggestion. However, if you create the topic, you will be able to keep better tabs on the progress. Sorry for the confusion, and I hope this is a helpful explanation. -
Inappropriate? This issue, due to a change in the twitter API was fixed in the 0.8.6 release. If you have additional related issues please open a new thread.
