Why is there a big blank space in my post using Seesmic?
When I used the Seesmic plug in, and put a video in the post, it leaves a big blank space.

Inappropriate?Hello Christine, please go to admin, edit the post in HTML mode (not VISUAL) and copy paste us all the text.
Thanks. -
Inappropriate? There's nothing in the HTML, i don't think. It's a problem with a Seesmic embed appearing in the first post on the page.
Look at my site http://lorennorman.com and you'll see that my first post is messed up, but not my second (both contain Seesmic embeds.) Now click on the title of my second post to open that post up. That post will now have this huge space in it as it is the first one on the page now.
I can give you HTML if you like, but i think this demonstrates that it isn't an issue with HTML at all. Potentially it is the CSS of some themes or something? Still working on this...
I’m not amused, but not angry
-
Inappropriate?Still no progress on this? My blog looks terrible with this going on!
-
Inappropriate?Okay, i figured out how to fix it myself, here's the writeup:
http://lorennorman.com/web-video/sees...
I had to open the Seesmic plugin code and remove all instances of "clear:both;" which were causing the plugin to appear below your sidebars on themes that implement sidebars with floats.
I would love for a developer to comment on this! This plugin is too powerful to let languish, guys.
I’m giddy
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for pointing out that issue and sharing the fix you found for your site. I'll make sure the developers see this, and work on it for the next release.
-
Inappropriate?I had this problem too and i guess it depends on wich other plugins you have installed (like comment live view, or comment edit). Since I experimented a lot and it's working now, I'm sorry to not exactly repeat the error. Just happy it's working now :)
It also depends on wich browser and flash version you use!

I’m happy that i found seesmic
-
Inappropriate?I've tried editing the seesmic.css and to no avail, I still have the space. So Christian is right, it seems to be some kind of other combination of plugins. I tried turning off all my comment plugins and that didn't work either.
I’m frustrated.

Inappropriate?Hello Christine. Try once this: Deaktivate all Plugins (in WP 2.5.1 you can easily activate them later back on with one click)
Re-install latest wp-seesmic plugin and only activate this and see if it works.
I’m hopefully
-
Inappropriate?I deactivated everything, re-installed, and only activated Seesmic. Still have the big space. Must be the theme?
-
Yeah... it looks like "clear:both" is forcing the first video to display below your sidebar div. That is something specific to your theme, but that we need to consider in the development of future versions. -
hum. sorry. here my advises end. let's hope the dev team find a solution. it was worth a try. -
Inappropriate? The "clear:both" styles are still present on your page, Christine, so you failed to actually remove them and save the file for whatever reason.
Are you using the latest version (0.1.5)? And are you sure you overwrote the old file? (also, the css file should be seesmic-wp.css, not seesmic.css, but i bet that's what you meant...)
It looks like they're going to fix this in a later version, at least!
I’m happily video chatting
-
Inappropriate?YES! Fixed. I must have written over the changes again when I reinstalled. Thanks for persisting with me on this, it is way better without that big space. Might actually use seesmic again in a post.
I’m happy this is now fixed.
