My transfer speeds are limited to <100kbps!
My transfer speed is limited to 100kbps!
I am syncing with several computers, all of which are using build 1.5.3.45429.20090304. My primary computer can not seem to exceed 100kb transfer speed no matter what I try.
As a result, duplicate versions of my files are created. I end up with my original file (example.pdf) and numerous copies (example [from KWnotebook].pdf). Sometimes there are more than a dozen copies and I need to search file details to determine which copy contains my most recent changes.
I am running vista business, and I am inside a hospital network. I have had numerous discussions with our LAN group who insist there is no bandwidth restriction applied to my port or application. My reported bandwidth using a third party test (speakeasy) is 26168kbps down and 11461kbps up.
I have scoured my workstation configuration (as have my hospital IT department), and have not been able to find the reason that my max upload speed is 100k, and average is around 40-50k.
I have contacted sharpcast several times regarding the issue. Each time I receive a reply instructing me to install the latest version of sugarsync and claiming the issue is "resolved". At this point, the product is practically unusable. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!

Inappropriate?Hi there,
A couple of things...
I see you are syncing Microsoft Access files. Access locks file when they are being used and so SugarSync is trying to access the file and it can't and thus it creates a duplicate file. Not too many applications lock their file from other applications but those that do, cause SugarSync to duplicate the file. We are looking into other ways on handling locked files though.
Now, to see what is happening with the pending upload status, we'll need to see the SugarSync logs. Click on Help and then Send Log to SugarSync. In the message box, please put in "Ticket 7372575". This number is what your previous ticket was filed under and we'll use that to log the issue.
Lastly, by default, our software will use up to 75% of the UPLOAD speed available but there is no such limit imposed on the download speed. Can you go to http://speedtest.sugarsync.com and what is reported there? -
Inappropriate?Just wanted to add that I'm getting the following message when attempting to access the SugarSync speed test: "This test has expired."
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate? The link http://speedtest.sugarsync.com is fine now. It had expired and we brought it back.
Note that now the speeds are reported in SugarSync Manager in KB/s (Kilobytes per second). 1 KB/s is approximately 10 Kbps (kilobits per second) -
Inappropriate?Thank you for your response, burr (and please forgive my delayed reply). Since my post, I had been forced to discontinue my use of SugarSync due to the performance and duplication issue.
After seeing your post, I immediately removed all MS Access databases, as well as .pst archive folders from my folders, with no improvement.
In an act of desperation, I resorted to removing all of the computers form my account and manually deleting all files on the SS servers.
Last week I purchased a new notebook (AMD Dual Core @ 2.1GHz / 4GB / Vista Business 64bit). Hoping for the unlikely scenario that the problem resided in my machine configuration and not the network I am in, I installed the SugarSync mgr and began to upload files. To my dismay, there is no improvement with the transfer speeds. I have been uploading since Monday morning and monitoring transfer speeds closely, understanding that LAN traffic will have an obvious effect on speed. As of 15:30est, the highest reported transfer rate has been 45kbps, with the average speed remaining at <15k>
I’m missing my $200.00!

Inappropriate?[Continued from above post]
As before, I have not experienced any significant performance issues with LAN, HTTP, VPN, or term svc. applications. The following screenshot was captured approx. 5 minutes before writing this post. The corresponding SugarSync speed at this time is 2k.
The good news, though, is that I only have "about 481 days to go" before my files are synced. ;)

Inappropriate?Got very similar issue with download speed - synchronizing folders to clean notebook and the top speed I get is around 80 KB/s (650~Kbps). My connection is of course way faster - your own speedtest is showing me 4000 Kbps for download and the speed of the line itself is around 7000 Kbps for other servers in speedtest.net. So whats the problem? I like the service, but this is will be even worst when I start to fill up my space - now I'am downloading "only" around 1GB, but if it would be 10GB with 70~ KB/s average speed? Waiting 40 hours to download 10GB is way too long (when the connection can handle this 4-7 times faster).
I’m frustrated
