Recently active topics in Shizzow

One thing I find useful on brightkite is the page that is displayed when a person is not found. For example: http://brightkite.com/people/bootsyco...

It links to Twitter, which is nice when an @username is mentioned in a message. Like Shizzow, it links to the profile page for that person on its own site, even if that person does not exist. Because of Shizzow's Twitter integration, I sometimes mention a Twitter @username in my shout, but that person might not have a Shizzow account (yet). E.g., https://www.shizzow.com/people/bootsy... (yes, I know that @bootsy is already on Shizzow!)

Anyway, I like that brightkite makes it easy to click over to Twitter, since that is always the next place I check for that person. The link to invite the person to their service is a good idea, though I would actually make it more prominent to encourage invitations.

It would be nice to have a "time" field to enable shouting where you're *about to go*. IOW, future-shouting. E.g., I'm going to leave for cubespace in a couple hours, but I want to shout (queue it up) it now.

I'd like to see ping.fm support. Custom urls are supported on ping.fm, so it should be reasonably easy to add in support.

"Home" would be a useful special-case place (otherwise, everyone has to come up with a clever name for theirs, and I'm tired of mine already; most people would want the address to be vague, if not private, too).

When I follow shz.me links from Twitter, I often find myself needing to click to find out where the shout location actually is. Any way you could add the address, even if it's just in the title attribute of the place link?

A suggestion: note the client software used when the API is accessed. I was just thinking about when icecondor will be able to autopush checkins to shizzow. Then I thought about the shout message and adding a signature of 'icecondor etc'. i realized immediately is a terrible idea, like the forced signatures in yahoo email. twitter puts the name of the client software in tiny print with each tweet. having that for shizzow messages would be a good way to give back to the app developers.

A unique identifier for each client application is integral to OAUTH so shizzow's OAUTH adoption might be a good time to think about adding this.

Automatically linking @ replies in messages would be easy and useful.

I know added preferences clutter the interface, but... I've found the connection to Twitter changes how and if I shout. There are times that I want to use Shizzow, but not clutter my Twitter stream. At those times, it would be useful to have a way to tell Shizzow not to tweet this shout.
