flag for 'come join me'
i just saw turoczy checkin at the sidedoor. its a bar and normally a meet-up space, but how do i know he's not there with a client? i assume that a shout is not an invitation to meetup unless they say so in a note. at the same time, i think people dont make that effort even when they're open to meetups. a checkbox as part of a shout could be a simpler way to indicate that status.

Inappropriate? The main point of Shizzow is helping people find more quality time with their friends in a world where that seems harder to manage every day. The general idea with a shout is that your broadcasting an opportunity to connect with your friends if they are nearby and available. Generally, if people know each other, location provides some basic context (I'm at work, etc) and for something ambiguous a message can add additional context (someone shouting from a favorite location, but with a message that they are on a date celebrating their 5 year anniversary may be wanting a little privacy).
So, our take, shouts are invitations and let context lead you from there.

context is hard to discern when people (cough, shizzow employees, cough) hold business meetings at the green dragon. -
Yes, but it's all in the hopes that people will come buy us drinks and distract us from work! -
donpdonp - guilty as charged. Last night we talked about how we keep breaking our own rules about only shouting from places where we want people to join us. We get so excited about shouting that we're neglecting to set a good example :)
