See my own shouts
I'd like to see my own shouts on my home page - it'll show me the context other people saw when I shouted. (I'm used to this on Twitter).

Inappropriate?Hey Brian,
Interesting! I definitely like the fact that I can see my own tweets from my Twitter page, and I understand why you'd want to see that on your Shizzow dashboard.
Let me think out loud here for a second...
The list of shouts that we are including on your dashboard is "People I'm Listening To". In order to make this work in its current implementation, we've have to jimmy-rig this to make you listen to yourself. Let me ask - do you want to listen to yourself? Would you want to receive notifications of your shouts?
Maybe a different solution would work better - that every time you see a list of shouts from your listeners/listening, your shouts should always show up in that list? Or maybe this is specific only to the dashboard?
I don't know what the best answer is - so I guess I wanted to turn the question back to you to see what you thought. We're certainly open to change, as long as the functionality is clear and the UI is consistent!
Thanks!
Ryan

Inappropriate?+1 for this. Context is great. I think it's reasonable to listen to yourself to make it happen. I wouldn't want to receive notifications/alerts of my own shouts though.

Inappropriate?Thanks, Ryan and Ryan,
Mr. Snyder, I understand how listening to myself would make this work, but like Mr. W, I don't think I need notifications of my own shouts (but wouldn't mind them) - it's primarily the dashboard (that's my "home" page, right?) where I think seeing my shouts would be useful.
I already see my own shouts on 'place' pages where I've shouted, so that's nice. I just looked, briefly, and didn't see any other places where I saw shouts listed in a personalized way (the "listening" and "listeners" lists are just people, not shouts, and the only RSS feed I found was only my shouts - did I miss anywhere? I'm hoping that "the API" will also let me get the shouts from those I'm listening to with mine included, too.)
Thanks for thinking about this little suggestion.

Inappropriate?Hi there,
I threw out this idea also. Dawn Foster was kind enough to reply and this was my reply to her :
I have had some more time to think about seeing my own shouts (in context) on my homepage and have read the other discussions on the idea. I agree with Bryan Stearns: "- it's primarily the dashboard (that's my "home" page, right?) where I think seeing my shouts would be useful."
I do still like the idea, but I'm not sure I would change what you have. Especially if it means drastically changing your UI or compromising your SMS or API. In other words, it's not that important. Face it, it's not really that hard to imagine where your shouts fall among the others you are listening to, or what that would look like.
Thanks for listening,
Doug -
Inappropriate?FWIW, I agree with Doug - I still think this would be an improvement, but not an important one (especially weighed against the API!).
I’m satisfied

Inappropriate?Wow, thanks for all of the feedback and for spending time thinking about how this should work! We've added this as something to look at in our next phase (after the api / sms work).
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Excellent, thanks!
(If I'd known I'd get this as soon as Ryan quit his day job, I would've tried to get him to do it sooner!)
I’m sated
