Twitter integration
I would love to have a way to have my shouts also posted to Twitter, since so much of my community is already on Twitter. However, Shizzow would have to do this more effectively that some of the other location services. Something like this maybe:
At (insert place name max 20 chars) (insert 1st 100 chars of shout message) (short URL - tinyurl, bit.ly, etc. link to shout message)

Inappropriate?We've hashed this idea out over and over again, and haven't been able to come up with a clear answer. We're concerned about Shizzow coming across as spammy, as other sites who have integrated with Twitter have seemed to me and many others that I've spoken with. We're also aware that all of our focus right now needs to be on the core of Shizzow, and that if we're focusing on integration with external sites and services then we are not making Shizzow all that it could be.
Our current thought is to focus on building our API and allow other services to build the bridge between Shizzow and Twitter. Once our API is out and running smoothly, then we can re-examine the idea of including Twitter integration within Shizzow.

Inappropriate?Agreed. The API will be a big step toward having successful integrations with other services, including Twitter.
I actually think that the API has been a big reason for Twitter's success. All of the 3rd party applications, clients, search services, etc. are what makes Twitter so easy to use.

Inappropriate?automated posts to twitter of any form seem to come across as spammy. i know i cringe at brightkite posts.
the twitter integration id like to see is @username support. display that as a link to twitter in the shouts. add a profile URL for their microblog home page, such as twitter.com/donpdonp or identi.ca/blahblah, then create an A link for @donpdonp that goes to whatever link i put in my profile. that way microblogs besides twitter can be supported. -
Inappropriate?For my friends with Twitter I want Shizzow to help make messaging them easy. Just have a twitter link that does something like load http://twitter.com/home?status=@philips would be a huge help.
