Any news on upgrading the version of Open Sim?

How are your experiments in upgrading the version of Open Sim itself going?
Looking at the latest version 0.6.1, there are a couple of bug fixes that I would be interested in.
I was reading about OAR http://opensimulator.org/wiki/OpenSim..., but it looks like this is only available after version 0.5.8
Would it be possible for you to create a version of Sim On Demand with the latest build of Open Sim. New users could then use this version. At an appropriate point you could then create another version of Sim on Demand with a later version of Open Sim and new users could use OAR to move across to the new version. This would resolve the issue of upgrading for everyone using the later version.
Users of the current version could decide whether to move across to the new version, losing all the work they have so far, or waiting for you to come up with a none destructive upgrade.

Inappropriate?Excellent idea. New versions for new users are regularly being released. There is a lag in updating the automatic transition mechanism ( using the 'Run with Latest server' checkbox. ) due to the testing involved.
A OAR based transition from one version to another is an excellent idea. In terms of effort, all I need to do is write a step by step how-to in the wiki!
One caveat is that the user is forced to do OAR dump region by region. Saving the files and file transfer back and forth is non-trivial.
Rightnow I'm mulling over it. Will come up with something clean soon.
