Is Typepad going to allow Facebook Connect for basic templates?
I love Typepad Connect but it would be great to have an option to allow users to sign in using Facebook Connect. Is this in the works?

Thanks, gackerman43, for the suggestion. I'm glad to hear that you like TypePad Connect.
I just commented on another Get Satisfaction thread and I'm also updating everyone here with the exciting (now public) news. We are currently working on a Facebook commenting integration with TypePad and TypePad Connect so you will have the Facebook sign-in option available.
Stay tuned for a upcoming release date. We'll update here and on http://everything.typepad.com.
Best,
Mark

Inappropriate?Ooh! That's a good idea! I've thought about that also but I have no idea how to use it. Maybe Typepad knows, if not they should pick up on it. Facebook Connect allows more commenters if they don't want to sign up through Typepad they could have another option.
-
Inappropriate?I haven't heard of any plans for this but I've marked the topic as an Idea so the TypePad Connect team knows to include it in the list of feature requests.
-
Inappropriate?this is a great idea. I built a school newspaper in TypePad recently They're hesitant to register on TypePad just to comment, and 90% of the kids are already on Facebook.

Way Cool - I have been with Typepad since - oh! - about 2004 when I lived in the Bay Area and have seen it grow, mature and always, always get better....

Inappropriate?Just an update, we've taken the first step and have made FaceBook a sign-in option for TypePad Connect (http://www.typepad.com/connect/) This means that it should be available for the standard TypePad commenting form soon.

Colleen - Has this been added in yet? Can't seem to find it on TypePad Connect. -
Yes! If you go to the TypePad Connect page http://www.typepad.com/connect/ and click on Sign Up or Sign In, you'll see Facebook as one of the possible ways to register. -
Hi Geysa, will there also be a facebook connect button within the comment section on each blogs posts? -
If the blog is using TypePad Connect, then yes. Clicking on the "Sign In to Comment" link will take you to the login page where Facebook is one of the options. -
Thanks, I see that but my question is will the fb connect button be placed on the comment module on each individual blog so users are aware they have that option before they decide whether they want to sign in, sign up or comment anonymously? -
It's not entirely clear that FaceBook is an option; burying the Facebook name two clicks away under a big TypePad logo, in a scrolling list with 9 other signin options doesn't really motivate a hesitant or skepitcal commenter to sumbit their comment. How about the logo's of the systems right there on the Comments page alongside the email/username/website URL requrest form. Commenters might get the idea they can link to any of their existing ID's that way. This is exactly the way the Get Satisfaction page we're on right now does it. I'll bet your own analysis of the commenting enhancements shows less use of the other systems than anticipated, huh? -
Inappropriate?Old face new look - Typepad is still the best and will lead to more SMBs using a blog as a business card website.
Looking forward to slew of new "Trades" templates
David
