private blog, unique visitors, comments?

Is this possible:

A private blog (which would have hundreds, if not thousands of visitors)
Allow comments in such a way that each person commenting would have a unique name/handle

We want to make a blog a perk...allowing our members to comment by name...

If TYPEPAD can't anyone know a system that can?
