If I select my written address in Contacts, which is Tyldesley, Manchester, the correct location is shown. However, if I use Undercover for iPhone, my address is given incorrectly as Pemberton although the location is correct. The town is named wrongly on Google Maps
my ipod touch can still not find my location although I have re submitted my mac address several times. This is also the case on my laptop using Loki. Am I in your database?
You guys drive around to map WiFi hotspots. Why not just make a free iPhone App for that. The iPhone already knows where it is and sees the MAC address of the WiFI hotspots. You can save ton of money and have a ton of data provided to you for free in an instant.
I can help you with the user interface ideas for free too.

Does the iPhone with the new (3.0) firmware use XPS? I just upgraded my phone to 3.0, and from the way position is displayed on the new Google Maps application, it appears that perhaps the iPhone doesn't use either A-GPS or wifi triangulation or cell triangulation like it used to, but perhaps uses all the sensors in combination.
I realize that maybe the information is proprietary and you can't say one way or another, so just wink one time if the answer is yes and two times if the answer is no.
Do you have to have software already on the computer to use Skyhook? How do I register to use it?
My desktop computer was recently stolen, HOWEVER, it has a wireless antenna attached to it so it can have wireless functionality. I am hoping I can use Skyhook to locate them if they ever try logging on to a wireless network.
Hi, I've submitted my MAC address several times and my iPod still wasn't able to locate my position. Now a couple of days ago I tried it again, and to my surprise it says I am in Beijing, China... hilarious, I live in Ohio. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
My Sony Laptop got stolen a few days ago -- I HAVE THE MAC ID TRACKING NUMBER--how and who can help me to find out when it is used--I know that the tracking # is unique, so whenever the thief goes onlin ( or the person he hwaked it to), the computer can be traced. Is there any software for that ? ( I don't have adonio installed).
Thanks for your help.

I'm trying to locate my new iPhone using Skyhook, but..I've found THREE MAC Addresses.
One is for the Local Network, one is for router, and one is for wireless.
Which one do I use when submitting location data to skyhook? HELP.
I have been using the wifi triangulation on my iPod touch for quite some time in Perth (Western Australia) and it has always worked fine. Recently I took a holiday in Melbourne (Victoria, Australia), and it didnt work until I connected to an insecure access point. Once that occurred, I was able to use wifi triangulation location in Melbourne without trouble.
--
Edit: While in Melbourne, I only needed to access the internet once on this at an insecure access point for the wifi triangulation to work all around the city (I did not stray far from the city). The rest of the trip did not have access to the internet, and the wifi positioning worked fine, just as it did around Perth before my trip to Melbourne
--
Now that Im back in Perth, I cannot get the triangulation to work unless I have an active wifi connection with internet access. Although wifi is enabled, anywhere I go I cannot get location my location anymore. For instance, my own home AP has been added to the database (by myself manually) and worked fine for months, however now while I am at home, if I disconnect from the network (leaving wifi enabled) then I cannot get my location, and if I reconnect then my location comes up again just fine.
The only thing different on my iPod when I traveled was the time-zone and the actual time (as I adjusted this while in another time-zone). This was all changed back when I arrived back in Perth. I have since tried a restore and also upgraded firmware to the very latest (I was on the previous most recent) and still no luck.
Is there anything else that can be tried to get this working again without an active internet connection?
Edit: I should note that, while my iPod can locate itself while connected to the internet, if I disconnect this and try to locate again afterwards it cannot find itself anymore even though I have not moved
i filled out the form, and my location was updated. all was good.
now my ipod touch can't find my location. same equipment, same router.
have an airport express thatis wired into a linksys befsr41.
help?
I live in Japan and got an ipod touch lately. I've noticed it often that I could locate myself without establishing any wifi connections. How do you make this happen? Do I have off-line database of well-known MAC addresses in ipod touch just like PlaceEngine does?
I travel a lot and use a wireless travel router in my hotel room. I was concerned that this router would screw up my (and maybe others') position, since it would pop up in different locations at different times. The Skyhook support people assured me that they had algorithms to weed out travel routers, but I found on a recent trip that mine was causing my iPhone to locate me in Florida (where I live, and where this router must once have been detected) even though I was in Japan and Hong Kong at the time. In fact, when I was in Hong Kong recently my iPhone would locate me sometimes in Hong Kong and sometimes in Florida, depending on where in my hotel room I was standing.
It seems that if I were to use this router in an as-yet unscanned area, it might cause Skyhook to add other routers seen in that area as being near where it thinks my router is in Florida. For example, I was using my router in Shanghai recently, which I don't think Skyhook has scanned yet; would Skyhook then think that other routers my phone can see are located near my Florida home?
Perhaps, in addition to letting us to add a MAC address location to the database, Skyhook could let us add the MAC address of travel routers that should never be considered.
i bought a brand new virgin modem of ebay , wheni plugged it in it asks me to register ...
can i get the mac number registered without virgin or do i have to chip it / flah..
I added my mac address to skyhooks database and tried the locate-me function on my iPhone. Once it find me exactly at my home, but the other times it is still inacurate! Why is that? During all the times I tried, I was connected with my fifi that's added to the skyhook database. Can anybody help me out? Great thanks in advance!
